Commentary on Perth

Even if you're not good at parsing, you can easily learn how to get a perspective. Let's have Perth on your side!

This is a class where you will be able to skillfully express “light and shadow,” which is important for illustrations

“How to let in light is complicated and difficult”

“When you express light, coloursI don't know what to choose”

“I can't shine light or shadow on characters well”

“I don't know how to draw if space is included”

Do you have this kind of trouble?

What cannot be avoided when drawing illustrationsHow to express light. As long as there is an object of some kind, such as a person or landscape, there will always be light and shadow there.

Where there is light, it becomes brighter, and where there is no light, it is dark

It's obvious, but even if you know it with your head, it's quite difficult when you actually move your hands to draw.

When drawing light, it is related to real lightStrict rulesYou don't need to know until If you hold down the simple laws relating to light, it is possible to reproduce it digitally.

Therefore, in this class, we have recorded plenty of content that can solve the worries and questions about light that many people who face illustrations have. For instance,The way of thinking about light and how to skillfully express light and shadow and incorporate them into illustrations, andPicture logicetc.

There are plenty of useful contents for everyone who wants to continue to face illustrations and grow while worrying.I would like to take this class only for those who love painting but have found it difficult to draw.

Movies are the best role models! Learn composition and expression methods in a cut scene

When drawing illustrations, it's not uncommon to use something as a reference or model. There are many reference materials, but what do you recommendCutting out a scene from a movie.

Since the film is a work created by a group of professionals such as the director, director, writer, cameraman, performer, etc., every scene has been calculated thoroughly, and the meaning and attention dwells down to the details.

The upper right frame of the image above is a cut from an actual movie scene. At first glance, it looks like men and women just walking around the city, but if you look closely, men are shaded and women are shined by light. Actually, in the movie, these two people play a man who has a secret and a woman who is trying to uncover it.

The feelings of a man who has feelings of backwardnessshadowsIt is expressed by, and for women who try to cut through and uncover the darknesslightHit it. Even if it's just a scene where “men and women are walking around the city,”Even feelings can be expressed with light and shadowSo it's really profound, isn't it?

If you look at it while having such a point of view,A scene from a movie is the best role model for drawing illustrationsDid you understand that?

Specific procedures, such as what kind of point of view should we have, where to cut out the scene, and how to express light and shadow, will be revealed at the beginning of the curriculum! You can take the course until the end while being aware of the important points.

The trick to improving illustration is “creating exciting goals”

Are you all excited to draw illustrations?

I couldn't draw well the way I wanted, I was depressed when I saw pictures of myself not growing, and before I knew it, drawing was no longer fun... Have you ever felt that feeling?

It's a path you can definitely go through if you face illustrations, but it's hard to keep holding on to that feeling alone, isn't it?

In this class, let's start with”Make goals that are exciting for youStart with” and then”Learn about the expression of light””Experiment with the expression of light””Tips for updating your skillsLectures are given in order with practice, etc.

We firmly support methods and ways of thinking unique to illustrators, ways of thinking, and ways of mental recovery when depressed.

Working at a game maker/2D designer

I was born in 1983 and currently work as a 2D designer for a game company.

It was originally an app game planner job, but when I was 34 years old, I decided to face my dream of “drawing as a job” again, and at the age of 35, I switched to a 2D designer for app games. Currently, I'm studying every day aiming to become a concept artist while being involved in 2D character production work!!!

The course focuses on “how to draw pictures using light,” and introduces technical aspects such as how to get a start in character drawing and background drawing. Furthermore, I hope we can work together to create an environment where you can “keep going steadily and enjoy drawing pictures that are attractive to you”, such as how to deal with bumping into a wall!

[Creator Interview]

Q. What kind of activities does the teacher do? Please tell us a little bit about your teacher!

We are engaged in 2D designer/management etc. at an application game development company.

I draw creative activities and secondary creation illustrations while exploring pictorial expressions that I personally think are fun for me.

Currently I'm interested in concept art, so I'm studying with the hope that I can create a worldview in the future.

Q. Why did you offer online classes with CLASS101?

When I introduced my growth record on SNS, many people were interested in it. Also, I began to get questions, and it started when they heard voices when they wanted to create something that summarized their own knowledge if it were a big deal.

Q. What points did you put the most effort into when planning the class? Who would you recommend this class to?

I would like people who are worried about not being able to draw sensibly to take this course!

I think there are many classes that introduce methods of expression, but I feel that I was able to grow by knowing “mind setting” and “picture logic” in learning painting techniques myself, so I would like to be able to show characteristics that are not found in other classes.

Q. What kind of experience do you want the students to have through this class?

I want people to experience enjoying change and growth.Expressions of painting will expand by experimenting with them. I often change what I initially tried to do or revise the goals I initially set.

Please don't think that such changes are bad. “I see, I place importance on that right now!” I hope people can feel the fun of changing by frankly facing what they want to do, which they understood only because they acted. (However, I don't think it's necessary to force a change!)

Q. Please give a message to the students!

“There is no right answer to a picture, but there is logic (which makes a picture interesting)”

These words were said by an artist I respect. I also asked, “What should I do to make it more interesting?” I always try to think about it. I hope all of the students will enjoy the “trip to make painting interesting” together while sharing what they think in my head!
