Improve your painting skills! A digital illustration course where you can learn while drawing the basics of composition, light/dark ratio, and drawing

This class is an online digital illustration course where you learn the flow of illustration production from an illustrator, how to think about composition and contrast ratio, and painting techniques and know-how using the Grisaille drawing method.

In the course, while repeating input and output, you will acquire know-how and skills to draw attractive pictures.

Why don't you learn the basics of digital illustration production in this illustration course and be able to draw eye-catching illustrations?

[This illustration course is suitable for people like this]

  • Those who want to draw eye-catching illustrations
  • Those who want to learn composition, light/dark ratio, grisaille drawing techniques, etc.
  • Those who want to improve their painting skills
  • Those who want to learn how to come up with ideas and how to come up with ideas
  • Those who want to learn the basics and apply and develop a drawing method that suits them

<Step1>Input the drawing flow and basic knowledge, and learn the basics of composition

In this digital illustration course, we will start with a lecture on the basic knowledge you need to know when drawing eye-catching digital illustrations and how to “prepare” for drawing pictures.

Then, around the time I began to want to move my hands... I began drawing motifs while learning the basic ideas of composition such as “golden ratio,” “oblique composition,” and “one-point perspective.” Let's be able to get a solid composition through the work of taking a rough composition, applying perspective, and correcting it.

<Step2>Acquire know-how to finish illustrations with light and dark effects

Once you have acquired the basic knowledge of digital illustration production up to this point, it's time to start the lesson for drawing “a picture with light and dark effects,” which is also the subject of this illustration course.

You will learn how to think about light/dark ratios and paint using the Grisaille drawing method, and learn it while moving your hands.

You will thoroughly practice important essences, such as how to roughly add light and dark, how to choose colors, and how to draw.

<Step3>Use what you've learned to draw a charming one-piece picture with light, dark, and composition

To finish the class, I will draw a one-piece picture from scratch using what I've learned so far. First, you will start by thinking about setting a theme for a one-piece picture, and then you will acquire practical know-how, such as collecting materials according to the theme.

Next, we will perform a series of processes together with the creator, such as taking a composition → drawing a large rough outline → taking a perspective and filling the rough → drawing a line drawing.

From there, I add light and dark, paint with the Grisaille method, draw, and finish the one-piece picture while also learning how to make final adjustments such as blur and noise.

<Message from the Creators> I will try classes where you can improve your “painting” skills and find your own unique way to draw

Nice to meet you, my name is Togarashi.

I usually draw, and I think I face various problems, such as “colors don't go well,” “the screen/composition is unfortunate,” and “ideas don't come up.”

In this class, while being close to such concerns, the goal is for those who take the course to acquire know-how and skills that can be applied and developed to drawing methods suitable for each student.

For example, I will also tell you how to save time for each, centering on composition, light/dark ratio, and grisaille drawing method, and how to make the screen look great as much as possible. Also, I would like to mention parts where you don't move your hands, such as ways of thinking and ideas, and aim to improve your overall “painting” skills.

I hope I can have fun drawing illustrations with contrasts and an attractive, glossy feel with all of you, so please take a look.

Q. What kind of activities do you usually do? Please introduce yourself briefly!

A. I work as a freelance illustrator. I usually focus on individual requests, and I also focus on my own creations! I have published 3 art books so far.

Q. How did your teacher start creating illustrations?

A. I've always loved drawing pictures, and I've always been drawing as an extension of that! The reason for full-scale activities was a year and a half ago, when I purchased an iPad and the production environment was ready.

Q. Why did you offer online classes with CLASS101?

A. I myself look at the teachings of various teachers, and there are methods and ways of thinking that are not often mentioned there. I got more people to know about what “painting would be even more fun if I knew this”, and I thought it would be nice if there were even a little fewer people getting frustrated with painting, so I came to the class!

Q. What points did you put the most effort into when planning the class? Who would you recommend this class to?

A. I think there are many courses on specific objects, such as “how to draw ~ ~,” so I'm focusing on other compositions, light and dark, etc. that are more basic and can be applied. Not to mention beginners, I think this content is also recommended for people who can draw but can't draw a convincing picture, are in a slump, and want to step up!

Q. What kind of experience do you want the students to have through this class?

A. I think this content will surely help students when they hit a wall of pictures! I would be very happy if you could learn mainly about ways of thinking rather than technical aspects, etc., and connect the students to their own steps up.

Q. Please give a message to the students!

A. I think some of the topics may be difficult, but questions are always welcome. Let's work hard together!
