Nice to meet you, I'm Chika Kojima, a photographer.

In this class, you can learn table photography recommended for those who want to level up from beginner to basic and intermediate. First, let's learn the basics and aim to be able to take well-balanced table photos no matter who sees them. Once you are able to take basic photography, try incorporating your own essence into it and expressing “my view of the world” with photographs. Don't give up saying, “I don't have any sense...” I created this class because I wanted to show that anyone can take great photos if they have a solid grasp of the basics.

Everyone who takes this class will be able to learn camera operation from the basics. Once you've mastered how to shoot, let's learn the techniques necessary to express the worldview you want to express.

Let's increase the number of shooting variations that are getting stuck in a rut!

You can learn about styling techniques and compositions that make things familiar to everyday life, such as flowers (bouquets and arrangements, etc.), food (cooking/sweets), handmade goods, etc., as subjects and make them look even nicer. If you feel like your photos are in a rut... you can increase the variety of shots you take.

I will teach you how to take photos that breathe a story into something close to you.

I usually take photos of various genres, and in the case of table photography, I take photos that feel a story from things close to me in my daily life, such as sweets, food, flowers, miscellaneous goods, etc. I create my work thinking about styling, how to use light, and balance the color scheme so that the subject being photographed stands out, such as “these sweets look even cuter” or “these miscellaneous goods don't have a more sophisticated atmosphere if you shoot them like this.”

I would like everyone to feel closer to photography through this class. Once you have learned the basics, such as how to shoot subjects and how to use light, let them breathe in the worldview you want to express, and let's all take a picture of your own together!

Q. What kind of activities do teachers usually do? Please introduce yourself briefly!

A. As a photographer, I shoot a wide range of genres, such as shooting for advertisements, websites, and books, shooting model portraits, and general public profile shoots. In addition to the shooting, there is also a table photography class mainly aimed at women. In addition to my activities in Japan, I also shoot and work as a lecturer overseas, such as Taiwan and France.

Q. Please tell us about your experience and achievements so far! Please tell me about exhibitions, awards, etc.

I started freelance activities as STUDIO PHOTOGENIQUE in 2015. Currently, I belong to the Advertising Photographers Association. Also, as a lecturer, I am also in charge of courses at SONY α Academy.

Q. How did you get into table photography?

I didn't originally aim to be a photographer, at first it was just one of my hobbies (laughs). I learned about the fun of table photography, and when I was sending photos I had taken as a hobby on SNS, I noticed while receiving requests from individuals and companies, and it became my main business.

Q. Why did you offer online classes with CLASS101?

Face-to-face classes are held, and while there are people who participate from afar, there are also many voices from people who work or are raising children that it is quite difficult to participate, or that they are too far away to attend. I thought that people like that would feel free to take the course if they were online, so I was told this time and the CLASS101 course was opened. I thought it was also attractive that people living overseas could take the course.

Q. What points did you put the most effort into when planning the class? Who would you recommend this class to?

After learning the basics of camera operation, the next step is to express the worldview you want to create with photographs, I have tightly condensed the method of approaching from various directions, such as composition, styling, color scheme, etc. From those who say “this is my first time with a camera,” they say, “I can operate it, but I don't know how to style it.” It is a content that can be taken even for those who say, “I always end up with the same photo...” and those who are worried about the rut of their own photos.

Q. What kind of experience do you want the students to have through this class?

I would be happy if you could know the fun of taking pictures and the fun of creating a worldview by doing your own styling. Also, I hope that the photography techniques you have learned by taking this class will be useful for your communication and that you will make use of them in your work. By being able to beautifully express your own worldview with photographs, I hope you can feel a positive change, such as expanding your field of activity, changing the reactions of people around you who see the photos, and expanding your circle of interaction.

Q. Please give a message to the students!

I would be happy if you could help express the ideal worldview you envision with photographs by learning the basics of photography and basic styling techniques. There are many people who are quick to improve in photography who enjoy taking pictures anyway. Let's have fun learning and improving our skills!
