About the class

Hello, welcome to Studio Genique's second pattern design class.

The one that opened earlier First classIf you start with the basics and cover a wide range of aspects of pattern design, this second class is a practical class where you can learn more efficient pattern design methods and even experience various product production using Photoshop's' channel 'function that was not covered in the first class. I'm sure this is a useful course for anyone who wants to develop their own designs or improve their techniques regardless of their Photoshop skills.

Since the Photoshop program is used much more frequently than illustrators in pattern design practices and production sites, it will be very helpful for students to achieve their goals. I'm also not a graphics major, so I can teach you how to learn Photoshop on my own, so I can make it easier for beginners to understand.

It also generously contains tips on product production gained from a long period of practice, from design development to production. I'll help you get the great work in your head out of the world through my classes!

Course effect

• You can learn how to design beautiful and cool patterns just by creating simple motifs.

Notes before taking the course

• The classes are created with Adobe Photoshop CC, and it is recommended that you use CS6 or higher when taking the course. (It would be nice if I could use the basic tools of Photoshop, but even if you are a beginner, I'll give you a summary of the tools used in the class at the beginning of the class, so there's no big problem.)
• For computer specifications, we recommend an Intel Core i5/8GB or higher.
• The pen mouse is the easiest to buy from the Wacom series, and we recommend a medium or larger size. (Model used by creator: Wacom Intuos4)

What makes this class special

❶ Efficient pattern design using 'channels'

I'll teach you drawing techniques and various pattern design methods using the 'Photoshop Channel', which can upgrade the techniques of all Photoshop users, from those who are new to Photoshop to those who are more advanced. You can make your photo look like a printout with simple edits, and you'll get used to Photoshop more easily than using traditional layers. It's a very helpful skill, especially for those who work on silkscreens, and it's a way to create your own designs using photos you've taken. For those who aren't familiar with channels, I'll tell you in detail about the basic structure of a channel and what is required for pattern design. It may seem difficult at first, but it's a simple system, so if you practice over and over again, you'll quickly get the hang of it.

❷ Create digital folktale patterns

One of Studio Genique's most special Photoshop skills is using a brush. Following the first lesson, I'll show you a simple operation method that can create a folktale effect. It will be of great help to those who have wanted to properly express the feeling of a digital folktale.

❸ Create a variety of goods with storytelling design

A scarf pattern is not only used to make scarves; it is a piece of art by itself. The finished scarf pattern can also be used in a variety of ways, such as T-shirts, dresses, and bags. I'll show you how to make a common scarf pattern and try a storytelling design that anyone can start having fun.
