Q. I would like to hear how you got an interest in watercolor.
A. Okay, so back when I was younger, I was so disappointed when I couldn't make those cute artworks while the people around me were drawing a bunch of them. And even though my undergraduate major was art, I stopped drawing after graduation since those complexes got worse.
So since then, I haven't been working in the art industry for about ten years even if I did have a certificate to become an art teacher in elementary, middle, and high school. However, I did start painting again three years ago. I was just resting at home after the miscarriage of my second pregnancy. And that was my turning point. I suddenly wanted to restart painting at my home, and I just happened to be drawing bread. Haha.
At first, I kept it a secret for my family because I was afraid to show my artwork to others. I drew it in the middle of the night and posted it anonymously on social media. Gradually, I was communicating with bread lovers through my artworks and suddenly it became a joy in my life. Drawing bread that I love and eat became my main job from that moment.
Since I am not a patissier, I don't know much about those fancy bread or pastry names since I don't have a lot of knowledge about bread. However, bread is like my life savior. Eating and drawing what I love made me happy and regain my strength while I was having a hard time.
By drawing and sharing my artwork, I gained my confidence again, and also reminded me of my youth and how I loved drawing. My complex suddenly became my strength.
Q. What kind of experience do you want classmates to experience throughout this class?
A. Not only just drawing an artwork, but I want you to remember what you liked and what interested you in the past. And just get absorbed in the drawing! I hope that the drawing to be your safety place as it is in my life!
Q. Any comments for classmates?
A. First of all, I would like to thank you all for choosing my class. I'm so excited to communicate with you about drawing and painting for five months! You can leave comments on each chapter, and please tell me about your honest thoughts, questions, or things you don't know! Like things you were happy about, and things that you are having a struggle with. Even if it is an online class, I would like to hear about your drawing and communicate with you all in the comment section. I am so grateful and honored that I got a chance to share my knowledge with you when I was just about to give up teaching art.
