While learning basic drawing and expression methods, I draw a variety of motifs, such as retro and antique landscapes of Europe, favorite cafes and foods I visited during my trip, and memorable paintings I saw in museums.

The whole class is based on the concept of “traveling to Europe,” and we will draw memories and experiences during the trip with oil pastels.

How good would it be if I could leave memories of my trip with illustrations

When you're traveling, there are moments when you want to burn the places and scenery you've visited, and the atmosphere of that space into your eyes.

What you capture in the photo is wonderful, but the scenery you saw and the feeling you feltUse your memories as a foundation of inspiration for your travelsWhen I drawDon't you think it's going to be even more special?

▲Part of the work I draw

After taking this class, you will be able to draw a scene from a trip with oil pastels by learning tips for painting landscapes, how to draw complex motifs in a simplified manner, how to draw detailed depictions that feel difficult, and how to use colors to enjoy the atmosphere.

Express color and texture by layering, and painting

That's where it's interesting

The interesting thing about oil pastels is that colors don't mix like paint. Delicate color differences are expressed by layering colors on top of colors.

Even with the same background color, the impression changes drastically, such as an expression that envelops light by changing the overlapping colors, or the shadows become dull.It is an art material that you can enjoy even the process of applying colors using the technique of applying colors without mixing them.

▲European buildings where you can learn about color expressions

There are also various methods for layering, and you can also rub oil pastels to create gradations, or draw while applying pressure to create a thickness like an oil painting.

Oil pastels are more oily than crayons and are easier to stretch, so you can draw soft expressions like watercolors or profound pictures like oil paintings. By expanding the range of expression, you can draw illustrations with a retro atmosphere that makes you feel somewhat nostalgic ♪

In this class, you will learn how to color colors and how to express texture while drawing motifs of European buildings and works of art.

Learn delicate expressions while drawing detailed motifs

I often hear people say that drawing small motifs is difficult because oil pastels tend to get rounded at the tips.

I also found it difficult at first, but I gradually got the hang of it. I will also tell you exactly what you are conscious of when drawing detailed motifs while drawing cafe menus etc. Being able to draw even small motifs should expand the range of works.

What is important in drawing a memorable sceneDeciding what to draw and what not to draw

I often hear voices saying, “It is difficult to paint a picture of a place visited, such as a landscape or a building, or the atmosphere of that place.” If you want to draw everything you can see, the hurdle is high and you won't be able to express it as you would like, so it's important to decide what to draw and what not to draw. I will tell you my know-how so that you can learn tips for painting landscapes, simplified ways to draw complex motifs, and use colors to enjoy the atmosphere.

In addition to its ease of use, oil pastels are attractive art materials with a wide range of expression, color development, and a cute appearance that rolls like crayons.

It may seem like a fresh art material, but that's why it brings out a new sense of sensibility, and every time you draw a picture, there are discoveries, and your time drawing should be a lot of fun.

Whether you are a first-time user or an experienced person, why don't you enjoy the world of oil pastels together? Let's go on an oil pastel journey together!

He began working as an oil pastel illustrator in 2020, and has been in charge of cafe menu illustrations, apparel illustrations, postcard designs, etc.

I will be exhibiting my first work at an exhibition in Kyoto around fall 2021. They also produce and sell original postcards, etc.

Since 2022, he has also been active as an oil pastel illustration instructor.

Also, since 2019, I was appointed as a Czech Goodwill Ambassador by the Czech National Tourism Board, and I am disseminating the appeal of the Czech Republic mainly on SNS, and now I am disseminating my own experiences and memories through illustrations.

Q. How did you get into oil pastels?

I learned about the existence of oil pastels when I wanted to shape my memories of studying abroad and traveling in my own way, and I was fascinated by their texture and began drawing illustrations with oil pastels.

Although it has a texture very similar to crayons, it is fun to be able to express a soft atmosphere like watercolor or a profound atmosphere like an oil painting with just one way to apply force, and now I draw various motifs using memory as a foundation of inspiration.

I would like to draw pictures while traveling with oil pastels one day.

Q. Why did you offer online classes with CLASS101?

Actually, when I started oil pastels, I took an illustration course at CLASS101.

Nowadays, I can have my own way of expression, color scheme, and worldview, but when I started, I really didn't understand anything.

So, I was genuinely happy when CLASS101 called out to me, and I decided to start the class because I thought it would be nice if more people enjoyed oil pastels, and I wanted to help people like me who are struggling.

Q.What kind of experience do you want the students to experience through this class?

I hope it will be an opportunity to experience the appeal of oil pastels and how to draw pictures, and discover new hobbies and expand the range of expression.

Also, I think it would be nice if I could express something important or experience in my own way, just like I draw pictures based on my own precious memories and memories. As I draw pictures in this way, my feelings for those things and experiences become stronger, and every casual everyday event seems very important.

I am happy that it will be an opportunity to sincerely enjoy the memories and the small everyday life around us while drawing pictures.
