Skills You’ll Learn
Hello, this is Seo Hyang-rok.
Hello! I'm Seo Hyang-rok, director of Rough Balance Productions! Currently, I am working on video works that record emotions through everyday life and travel, such as music videos, documentaries, and travel essays.
The inspiration that traveling abroad gave me
In 2014, I went on a business trip to China, which was my first overseas trip in my life. I unknowingly began shooting images of exotic sights and landscapes I had experienced for the first time with my camera. As I traveled to various countries, my external hard drive began to fill up with photos and videos.
There was a desire to shoot better images,Even in everyday times Even when I enjoyed the trip, I captured the beautiful moments I faced while walking along the street. I captured this as a photo and video, put on music with an appropriate sensibility during the editing process, and included essays written by heart in the video as subtitles. This video, bound together by a single link, became a very meaningful “My Own Video Essay” work.
Things I want to tell you in the video essay class
“Video Essay”, which began as an individual work, quickly became my video portfolio, and naturally I received many requests for video work. I directed the “Shinsegae” music video by hip-hop artist Chaboom, and collaborated with other artists on the “Hippie Was a Gypsy - Fire” album production documentary. It's been 6 years since I started working as a video director.
Know-how I learned on my own over 6 years, “How to explore light,” “How to find and shoot cinematic compositions,” “Creating emotion through classic cut editing,” etc. In this class, I want to show you the core skills I usually use.
If I knew how to change the things I saw and felt into image language and how to do that You can create a fully sensual video without applying special effects (plug-ins, paid transitions, effects, etc.).
What the video essay left me
The gift that the video essay gave me was that it made me happy in the little moments of my life. The part that made me remember the past time more beautifully is a bonus. The fact that I can connect with someone with these feelings when I capture the voice of my heart in a video and share it still makes me shudder.
Why don't you keep a video essay about the many hours that pass by us? For those who want to value everyday moments, I would like to answer with this class.
This class I use Adobe Premiere Pro, but since the course is not tool-oriented Davinch resolve and Final Cut are also fine.
