Skills You’ll Learn
From hair ornaments for sunny days to items you can use everyday!
Nice to meet you! I'm Asagiri who works as a tsumami crafting artist.
I have loved handmade since I was a child, and I enjoyed handicrafts and cake making. Tsumami zaiku started in the wake of my daughter's coming-of-age ceremony, and now I'm offering classes in a log house.
Tsumami zaiku is one of the traditional cultures handed down since the Edo period. There is a high threshold when it comes to traditional culture, but I will teach them carefully in class so that even beginners can create works well and happily.
When you hear tsumami zaiku, I think there are images of “traditional crafts,” “somewhat hard and difficult,” and “hair ornaments that can only be used when wearing kimono.”
In this class, we will make not only hair ornaments for sunny days, but also items that can be used everyday, such as corsages that go with clothes.
First, let's take a firm look at the two basic techniques
In the class, we will give lectures on how to make a pedestal from basic knobs (round knob, sword knob), how to make beautiful flowers, and how to make hair ornaments on a sunny day (753, graduation ceremony, coming-of-age ceremony).
Also, I will tell you how to take a nice picture of the finished hair ornament.
Challenge tsumami zaiku that can be arranged in both Japanese and Western styles by changing the cloth
Even beginners in tsumami zaiku make hair ornaments for “sunny days” such as 753 and coming-of-age ceremonies.
When you hear tsumami zaiku, you probably have a Japanese-style image, but even if you make the same flower just by changing the cloth, you can create an ornament that looks good with both Japanese and Western clothing.
You can create works using fabrics such as loose hair, memorable clothes, kimono, etc., and revive them, and create new memories. Please enjoy making various combinations.
The world of tsumami zaiku is deep, and it's easy to think that what you learn in class is just a small part of it, but you can also make various arrangements incorporating the techniques you've learned here.
We have prepared classes so that the fun of tsumami zaiku is conveyed even a little bit, and that it is a special experience for everyone to meet new hobbies.
Welcome to the glamorous and profound world of tsumami zaiku!

I have loved handmade since I was a child, and I enjoyed handicrafts and cake making.
After getting married and having children, the craftsmanship revived, and when my daughter was in kindergarten, I started working as a handmade artist in Fukuoka.
Eco-craft works have been introduced in books, local TV, and free papers.
After that, due to the transfer of the family, the base of activities was moved to Tokyo!
I acquired many qualifications, such as handmade bread and cakes, knitting, blizzard flowers, etc., and started classes.
Classes will be held in a log house made by the family over a year from 2014/9 ☆
I learned about knob zaiku in the wake of my daughter's coming-of-age ceremony, and I became obsessed with it and started making it.
Fortunately, I received a voice from a tsumami zaiku artist and helped make the work, and there was an offer from an internet site, and they introduced the work and sold the kit.
Currently, we are holding classes at home while learning tsumami zaiku from craftsmen.
[Creator Interview]
Q. What kind of activities do teachers usually do? Please introduce yourself briefly!
I usually post works created on social media such as Instagram and Facebook. For beginners, we are holding a hair ornament making class suitable for each kimono. Also, I was asked by a company to supervise a knob zaiku kit. Currently, I study every day with only a few tsumami zaiku craftsmen in Japan.
Q. Please tell us about your experience and achievements so far! Please tell me about exhibitions, awards, etc.
After working as an assistant to a tsumami zaiku artist, I was asked by a company to supervise tsumami zaiku kits.
Q. How did your teacher get into tsumami zaiku?
I can make my own “tsumami zaiku” hair ornaments before my daughter's coming-of-age ceremony! I learned that, and I started making it so that it would be a memorable coming-of-age ceremony.
I am addicted to the endless possibilities of being able to make the pattern and atmosphere of the kimono to my liking, and being able to make it suitable not only for kimono but also for clothes.
Q. Why did you offer online classes with CLASS101?
The reason I started “tsumami zaiku” was my daughter's coming-of-age ceremony, but I regretted that if I had known “tsumami zaiku” sooner, I could have made it at 753 or graduation ceremonies...
I don't want you to regret it like I did! I want as many people as possible to know the fun of “tsumami zaiku”! When I thought, I received a voice from CLASS101 and decided to start the course.
Q. What points did you put the most effort into when planning the class? Who would you recommend this class to?
I made it in such a way that even beginners and busy people can make it little by little, and I packed it tightly with 753 and coming-of-age hair ornaments, etc., which many people want to make the most with tsumami zaiku!
Q. What kind of experience do you want the students to have through this class?
I would be very happy if you could make hair ornaments for a sunny day using basic tsumami zaiku techniques and make lots of wonderful memories with your loved ones.
Q. Please give a message to the students!
This course is just one part of “tsumami zaiku,” but it's still deep and you can arrange various things. I think it would be nice if the fun of tsumami zaiku was conveyed even a little bit and it would be a special experience where students would meet new hobbies.
