Hongik Art Institute is a space that introduces easy and fun oriental paintings that anyone can draw.

Here, I draw folklore and oriental paintings of various materials such as people, pets, and objects with the students. We tell you how fun it is to draw something you like with your own personality.

Along with the management of Hongik Art Research Institute, I also run the YouTube channel 'Draw Nicely. '

I also did a painting band for the movie “Beautiful India,” collaborated with Marvel many times, and drew movie posters. I draw oriental paintings with such a variety of materials.

It's nice to learn traditional folktales while drawing oriental paintings, but I always ask, “Why don't you draw something new?” I was thinking about. I wanted to draw an attractive picture that imbued with a sense of “nastiness.”

I continued my attempts to paint popular and new oriental paintings by running the Hongik Art Institute. In particular, I was very satisfied with the folktales drawn with various materials. This is probably because the design is easier and the color is more beautiful among oriental paintings.

I started with folk tales, learned the basic skills of oriental painting, built up my skills, taught creative work, and gradually expanded my field of drawing.

Can beginners draw?

This is the most common question I hear. Of course anyone can draw. Everyone has a beginning, and they will experience the beginner level. But above all else, building a solid foundation is the most important thing!

The basic lines and boundaries of oriental painting

The basic skills of oriental painting are Zen and Barim. For a solid foundation, I'll first teach you how to draw a brush and how to draw various lines such as straight and curved lines in detail.

Barim is like gradation and process. Since you have to use two coloring brushes at the same time, water control is very important. Before drawing this picture, we will practice together and fully master it.

Please practice every time you have time so that you can fully get used to the basic skills. Practice doesn't betray you.

When they first learn Oriental painting, there are many people who learn folk tales. Peony and softening are both meaningful and beautiful pictures. However, there are many other types of oriental paintings other than flower paintings.

I want to show you more about the diverse world of oriental painting.

• A cat, a symbol of longevity

Surprisingly, there are many pictures of cats in the old days. The Chinese character (), which means 70 years old, has the same Chinese pronunciation as the Chinese character (), which means 70 years old, so it is depicted as the meaning of longevity. It is drawn with chrysanthemums, sparrows, butterflies, and magpies, and has the meaning of celebration ().

• Description of delicate hairs

Oriental paintings are known as paintings without contrast, but in the case of color painting, there is no contrast treatment at all. However, it's not a picture that relies on contrast. Dark areas are not easy to draw with faceted treatment. I'm going to plant all the hairs one by one.

If you draw together in class, you'll quickly get used to it.

• Application, drawing a picture of your own cat

Short-bred cats tend to have similar faces in color. If you learn how to describe cats through classes, you'll be able to draw your own cat!

People who own cats are well aware of the facial expressions and characteristics of their cats. Keep these features in mind. I'll catch the cat's lovely appearance and draw your favorite object together.
