Nice to meet you, I'm Aquett Candle Akina who works as a Candle and Jesmonite artist.
I'm sure some of you have heard the word โgestmoniteโ for the first time? It is a trendy material that is popular overseas, attracting attention due to its interesting texture.
The appeal of Jesmonite is its fine feel. It has a different texture from gypsum, concrete, diatomaceous earth, and mortar. Once you touch it, you'll be captivated by its silky, silky texture.
In this class, we will use this remarkable material โgestmoniteโ to make stylish and highly versatile plates. You can freely use it by placing your favorite accessories or using it as a candle plate.

There are many ways to arrange Jesmonite. Among them, designs studded with gold leaf, marble pattern, and terrazzo pattern designs are popular designs overseas. You can create your own original plate by toning your favorite color and pouring it into your favorite mold.
Once you learn basic design techniques, the rest of the designs and color combinations are endless! Let's make a plate that you will love with your favorite design. Active as a candle artist and gestmonite artist in Shiga prefecture. Holds the qualification of an artist certified by the Japan Candle Association.
During my first child-rearing leave, I met a handmade person with the intention of starting a job that I could do from home while having children. I acquired a qualification at the candle school I attended with the cooperation of my family, and worked on marches and commissions. Many of them are handled at events such as department stores and shopping malls.
Currently, we are preparing to open a candle and gestmonite experience class at our home atelier.

Q. How did your teacher get started?
I came across Jesmonite when I was looking for a saucer to light a candle. Every day, there are many questions from customers who buy candles, such as what kind of saucer to use, etc., so let's make your own one in the shape you like! It started when I thought about it.
Q. Why did you offer online classes with CLASS101?
There were few artists in Japan who made gestmonite plates. When I started production, I myself used overseas production methods as a model. There are times when languages are different, so I couldn't do it the way I thought it would be. I thought it would be great if more people were active in Japan by starting classes, so I took a step forward!
Q. What points did you put the most effort into when planning the class? Who would you recommend this class to?
I would like to carefully tell you the methods I arrived at through repeated trial and error, such as tips for adding beautiful colors, tips on how to bring out patterns, etc.
Q. What kind of experience do you want the students to have through this class? Please give me one last word!
I want myself! I want to share the joy of what I thought actually takes shape. I would be happy if you could enjoy the process, such as the time spent worrying about what kind of design to make, the feeling of excitement when removing it from the mold, and the sense of accomplishment when holding the finished work in your hands.
I think this is a class that is easy to challenge, even for beginners. Let's try it without thinking about anything too difficult! I think you'll enjoy it if you work on it with that feeling.
