Interview

Q. What is special about 'sabre'?

There are two techniques in Sabre; attack and defense. So you need to understand the rules exactly. Also, the game is played quickly and dynamically compared to other sports, so you need to make quick and accurate judgments in the moment. If you're good at making split-second decisions, sabre is for you.

Q. This is the first online fencing class in Korea. What made you decide to create it?

There are a lot of people who are interested in fencing but have a hard time getting started, so I wanted to make it easy for them to see what it's like online. I wanted them to be able to try it out and see if they like it, so they can actually start fencing as a hobby.

Q. What would you like to say to your classmates?

I think people tend to believe that 'fencing' is a difficult sport to start. Nowadays, there are many fencing clubs, and equipment prices have become more affordable. I would like you to think of fencing as something a little easier and closer to badminton or table tennis. It is a fascinating sport that can be enjoyed as a hobby as one of the same daily sports.
