Class Overview

Welcome everyone, I’m Shuika and I’m a watercolor artist who loves to paint in semi-realism style!

If you're considering following this class, the first thing you must know is that you don't need any particular skill to start!

I will teach you everything you need to know, and together we will do a series of practical exercises to both understand our materials, and the techniques we're going to use, starting from pencil and ending with color!

The set of skills you will learn here will be more than enough to create our main project: the Portrait in the cover!

In chapter 1 I’ll guide you through the Materials we’re going to use, explaining to you how to choose the perfect ones for your purpose.

This part will be followed by the first Watercolor Bootcamp in chapter 2, our first practical chapter, dedicated to teach you how to use your brushes, finding their personal skill, learn color mixing, color harmony and to create an intelligent and coherent color pallete, follower the most used coloring techniques.

In chapter 3 we’re going back to pencil, and before: the inspiration behind the portrait.

I will give you some insight on where to gather inspiration for your drawing, guiding you since the first steps of the sketch phase, focusing then on teaching you how to draw the shapes of the face.

In chapter 4 we have our second bootcamp, where we put everything we’ve learnt together, creating a Monochromatic portrait.

It’s very important to follow this part because this is the base to add color next, and that’s what we’re doing in chapter 5, in which I teach you how to color different parts of the face.

After learning everything you need to know, in chapter 6 you’ll finally be able to really challenge yourself and put it all together creating a portrait!

We have an additional bonus chapter number 7 where I will talk about the importance of coloring freely and the relationship that colors and our emotional life have. Then, I will give you my greetings for completing the course successfully, in the Outro chapter, telling you some encouraging words from artist to artist..

I wish for everyone who approaches this class to live it as a moment they dedicate only to themselves, of self-care and growth, a moment to relax and just enjoy painting, knowing you’re doing something meaningful for yourself.

I can’t wait to see what you're going to create along with me!

See you soon!

Shuika

I’m Zoe, also known as Shuika online, and I’m a watercolor artist who loves to paint in semi-realism style, currently working as a freelancer and content creator.

Throughout all of my life I’ve been called to pursue art, but only recently I embraced this path. It takes courage to embrace our creative sides, and for me it took a while!

I’ve always drawn since I was little, but I never colored my pieces, and I remember struggling a lot with finishing my drawings because I couldn’t get myself to enjoy the process.

I’ve never attended an art school but I spent a lot of time practicing!

I discovered watercolor, but it was very frustrating for me at first, because I simply didn’t know how to do what I wanted, that now, after some years of experience I do.

So I dropped it.

Then at some point my approach changed, I stopped running from it, and I finally saw something moving.

I started taking commissions and advertising myself, growing my following on instagram and seeing a lot of opportunities rising.

That led me to meet more creative people like me and interact with them, getting more frequently asked for art advices, tutorials, and at that point I really started to consider sharing not only my drawings, but also my knowledge in watercolor painting.

And here we are!

I genuinely love art and to share my works, in hope that I can give my tribute to honor the world we live in with my own vision, and what I wish for other artists is to do the same, fearlessly! The world becomes magical when we hold a brush, pen, marker, and we sprinkle it with color!
