CREATOR STROY

If your picture isn't good enough, doubt whether you're close enough to the subject.

Known as Paul McCartney's exclusive photographer, he was chosen by celebrities with great presence just by name, such as Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Johnny Depp, President Obama, Steve Jobs, and BTS The photographer who best fits the “world class” modifierThis is it.

Ironically, the starting point of such a brilliant history was many failures and hardships. In the midst of college failure, failure to study in the US, and economic difficulties caused by the IMF, the photo came to him as an accidental gift. The experiences, choices, and enlightenment of an extremely ordinary student until he became a photographer for international starsI included it in the class.

“I didn't have any money, and I didn't know English, so you can do it too!”

Through her classes, MJ Kim wants to bring hope and courage to aspiring photographers. From being a self-taught photographer to an apprenticeship for a media company, then working as a senior entertainment reporter at Getty Images Europe to doing various activities such as performances, portraits, fashion, and documentary photography as a freelancer His practical tips, know-how, and wisdomWe will generously reveal it.

This class will be the best for those who want to become photographers, for those who want to be active on the global stage as photographers, for those who are worried about taking better photos, and for 99% of ordinary people who want to find hope.

Q & A

Q. What is the source of inspiration for taking pictures?

When I read magazines, ideas often come to mind. There is a digital platform called “ZINIO” that gathers various magazines from around the world in a digital form, and since I mainly use Pinterest, I can learn about the unique culture and trends in the region around the world, so I can get various ideas without having to go directly to that far place. If you're looking for something new, subscribing to various magazines can be a great source of inspiration. If an inspiration comes to mind, it's a good idea to start looking for references. As I search for references while searching for related keywords on the internet, I slowly start drawing my own sketch.

Q. What should I do if I don't like the photos I've taken?

“If your picture isn't good, you haven't gotten close enough.”

This was said by the legendary military photographer Robert Capa. I also really sympathize with that statement. Here, I said, “Spend more time with the person you want to photograph!” I'd like to add If you have love and interest in the subject, you'll see something else that others can't. There's a verse like this in a poem called <Full Flower> by my favorite poet Nathae-joo. “It's pretty when you look closely. It's lovely when you look at it for a long time. So are you. ' If you look closely at people or objects for a long time, I think you can see the diverse charms hidden within them. When you need to take a picture of a stranger, it's hard to expect an expression of true feelings from someone you haven't interacted with. Therefore, strong communication with the subject is important.

Q. I want to take good pictures, what kind of camera should I use?

Many people invest time and money to get a good camera because they want to take good pictures. However, I think the best camera is a camera that is as comfortable and familiar as one's own hands and feet. No matter the size, brand, or price. Many amateurs buy big, cool, and expensive equipment and hear that they have a lot of cameras in their cabinets because they are too heavy and hard to carry around. Cabinet tools don't determine the completeness of a work. The important thing is how well you understand your tools and how competently you can handle them. Whether or not you can handle the same camera as comfortably as your own hands and feet determines whether or not you can capture the decisive moment, so the results are different between heaven and earth. So if you want to take better photos, don't lose yourself in search of a newer, more expensive camera and start by practicing getting to know the camera you have in your hand now.

Q. What is the difference between A cut and B cut?

Can you estimate how many photos I will take during a 2 to 3 hour concert by a musician? Approximately 3000 to 4000 cuts. Therefore, in this case, picking an A cut is a big thing for me rather than shooting. Since only a few of the myriad cuts survive, picking good photos is also a necessary skill for photographers. In other words, you must have an “eye for selecting A-cuts.” One day, I was asked, “What's the difference between A cut and B cut?” It's about what kind of pictures survive intense survival. In fact, there are no objective criteria for A-cut selection, so I thought about it carefully. What are my criteria for choosing an A-cut? I mean while doing it. First of all, the first answer that came up was, “There must be something eye-catching in the photo.” Sometimes, “Ah!” With admiration, or “Huh?” It's something that catches people's attention with curiosity! You have to find that right away.
