Dear Students,

Hi! I’m Mike English, the creator of Speak, Act, Think English!

I have been an English teacher since 2008, and I have lived in Korea since 2009. I have taught at government institutes, private academies, public schools and gifted centers, and I now run my own teaching business, helping students to achieve their English goals.

Something that I have realized is that Korean students often have exceptional English reading and listening skills, wide vocabularies, and detailed knowledge of grammatical rules. However, many of my students have expressed doubt in their speaking ability. Often, this is due to a lot of confidence, or a lack of practice.

In 2023, we have more resources than ever before to study English. In the last few years, I have been studying online education, and researching new methods, to be able to take advantage of modern technology, and be able to help more people to improve their English. To that end, I set up a popular Instagram account, mike_english_academy, which aims to give students an opportunity to practice using English every day.

In December 2022, Class101 approached me with an opportunity- to develop a class for students to learn about British English, and British culture. Therefore, I have created this class, to give students an opportunity to hear real, native-speaker English. The lessons are designed to teach students genuinely useful vocabulary and grammar, that they can use to speak naturally and fluently, in everyday situations.

In my experience, students respond best to topics that are either helpful or interesting. Therefore, I have selected a range of practical themes, that aim to both help, and answer the questions that students have about life in the UK.

친애하는 학생 여러분,

안녕하세요! 저는 Speak, Act, Think English 클래스를 만든 Mike English입니다!

저는 2008년부터 영어 선생님이 되었고, 2009년부터 한국에서 살고 있습니다. 정부 기관, 학원, 공립 학교, 영재 센터에서 가르쳤고, 지금은 학생들의 영어 목표 달성을 돕는 저만의 학원을 운영하고 있습니다.

제가 깨달은 것은 한국 학생들이 종종 뛰어난 영어 읽기와 듣기 능력, 넓은 어휘, 그리고 문법 규칙에 대한 상세한 지식을 가지고 있다는 것입니다. 하지만, 제 학생들 중 많은 학생들이 말하기 능력에 대해 걱정을 하는데 이유는 보통 자신감이 없거나 연습이 부족해서였어요.

지금은 영어를 공부할 수 있는 방법이 그 어느 때보다 많습니다. 지난 몇 년 동안, 저는 현대 기술을 활용하고 더 많은 사람들이 영어를 향상시킬 수 있도록 온라인 교육을 공부하고 새로운 방법을 연구해 왔습니다. 학생들이 매일 영어를 사용하여 연습할 수 있는 기회를 주는 것을 목표로 인스타그램 계정인 mike_english_academy를 개설했습니다.

2022년 12월, 클래스101에서 제안한 '영국 영어와 영국 문화에 대해 배울 수 있는 수업 제작' 할 수 있는 기회를 통해, 진짜 원어민 영어를 들을 수 있는 수업을 만들었습니다. 이 수업은 여러분들이 일상적인 상황에서 자연스럽고 유창하게 말할 수 있도록 정말 유용한 어휘와 문법을 가르쳐드릴 거예요.

여러분이 도움을 받고, 흥미를 느낄 만한 재미있는 주제들로 엄선해서 영국의 문화와 삶, 그리고 영국 영어를 제대로 배울 수 있는 수업이니 재미있게 들어주세요!
