Hallo It is said that he draws illustrations that reinterpret traditional materials from the East. This course introduces how to draw digital illustrations using the style of traditional color painting, which is well known from Korean court paintings and folklore paintings.
The folklore that I am mainly inspired by prays for good fortune, “Hoping for good”It's a picture full of this. I like the fact that it contains that kind of wind, so I often draw traditional materials and folk tales. Also, in the case of animals of the Chinese zodiac, it's a very familiar material, and I was very happy that many people were happy when familiar animals were expressed in traditional colors. I have had that kind of fun, and I've been working on it until now.
Traditional culture that you can enjoy comfortably
In this class, you'll draw folktales using Photoshop and a tablet instead of paper and brush. Although the feel and texture of a painting drawn using traditional methods cannot be exactly the same, I think digital work can also be a good choice in situations where the materials and environment required for manual work are not available. Also, work steps can be shortened to a certain extent. Another advantage is that it's easy to edit and edit. If you wanted to try folktales but couldn't get started because of the high cost of materials and the hassle, try digital!
Why are there so many bats and peaches in folk tales?
In folk tales, there are usually many symbols praying for good fortune. The appearance brings up ideas, and they are often used in pictures because they have the same pronunciation as good words. For example, the kanji for bat has the same pronunciation as (), which means good fortune (), so bats are often used in object decorations and patterns. There is a legend that peaches of the goddess Seo Wangmo increase longevity, so peaches are also drawn to pray for longevity. If you know these stories behind the scenes, it will be more fun when you appreciate the work, and you will be able to draw with meaning even when you draw your own pictures.
In the case of folklore, there are many schematized materials such as peonies, peaches, and pine trees. In this class, I'm going to draw some folk tale materials together. The example picture includes my painting style, which is simple and round, and although it may be slightly different from the original form of traditional painting, you can learn basic line work and coloring methods. If you are interested in oriental-style illustration work even after attending the course, I also recommend observing and drawing traditional paintings and artifacts.
While working digitally, I thought a lot about what tools to use and how to make corrections to make use of the traditional feel. You can learn the skills you learned when drawing and coloring line paintings while drawing along folktale works. I think it will be a great class for those who want to draw pictures like folk tales, but manual work is not feasible, or if they want to try digital drawing.
It will also be helpful for those who want to add a folktale feel to their everyday paintings, and want to try their hand at digital work while drawing folktales by hand!
