“I'm interested in Korean painting, but the material costs are burdensome, and I don't have enough space to work on.”

Korean painting is a very attractive genre of painting, but unlike watercolors, oil paintings, and acrylic paints, most of them are natural pigments. How to handle materialsIt's not easy. Of course, Korean painting tube paints are being released these days, but in order to properly experience Korean painting, it is necessary to have an understanding of Hanji, the types of natural pigments, ingredients, and storage methods. Also, I need some space to work.

One of the reasons I also started digital work This is because the material burden is low and there are no space restrictions. For those who have the same concerns as me, I think I drew it by hand on Hanji using a tablet and Photoshop 'Digital Korean Painting'I would like to tell you how to draw.

Korean paintings with beautiful lines

Korean painting is a Western gallery The order and method of drawingThis is a little different.

Let's compare it with oil painting, which is a representative material of Western painting. In oil painting, when depicting a person, a large mass is stacked with a brush touch to express the three-dimensional effect and contrast of the figure. On the other hand, Korean painting depicts a character's hair or a strand of hair rather than focusing on three-dimensionality or contrast shipping expressionI place more importance on it. That's why the sketching stage is more important.

Even when coloring, Korean paintings leave as little brush touch as possible So that color jokes can be revealed Please be careful. The term “gradation” in the West is used in Korean painting 'Barim' It's called. Another characteristic of Korean painting is that colors are not raised all at once, but by stacking them several times with light colors.

Figures and colors full of oriental beauty

Hallo My name is Hye Kang, who paints paintings by reinterpreting Korean materials in a modern way.

Currently, Naver Grifolio is serializing the “Girl in Pink Jeogori” series based on the concept of today's girl who loves Hanbok.

Other activities include publishing, exhibitions, album covers, dramas, and corporate collaborations.

Recently, I'm preparing for an offline Korean painting class at a private studio in Hongdae:)

I chose Korean painting as my major because of the smell of food, and even now that I mainly work on digital, I still like the cozy and relaxed feel of the paint on Hanji paper. While painting on a tablet, I think I'm thinking a lot about expressing the warmth unique to Korean painting with my own dreamy colors. Of course, there are times when I get upset because the picture doesn't come out the way I want, but I also feel better just by taking a picture of my favorite colors from a palette and filling the white background.

For me, painting was a hobby and an indispensable healing element before it was a job.

I hope painting will be a relaxing and healing tool for all of you to relieve the stress of a hard day.

Let's draw together:)
