Hallo I'm Shin Hye-rim, a photographer

Hi, I'm Photographer Shin Hye-rim. I joined CLASS101 to share my know-hows about film photography I love.

Loving work that began as a hobby

When I went to college, I really A job you loveWhat kind of thing is it? I was worried about that. I wasn't confident that my major in crafts would be my lifelong career. At that time, I randomly had various hobbies, and the one that appealed to me the most photoThat was it. There were pictures in major-related classes, but they weren't very helpful, and they were almost invaluable Self-studyI did it like learning with Ordinary photographers make their debut after having time as an assistant in a photo studio, but I really Start with a hobbyWhen I posted the photos I took on the internet, the opportunity came my way.

After all, it must be a film camera

While it's increasingly common for people to take pictures with high-definition smartphones, film photography is slow and inconvenient, but I think this The Aesthetics of SlownessI think the number of people who enjoy and love it is increasing. Film photography isn't data, is it? There are many variables, and the results are not known until the end.

The many particles in the air that are invisible to the eye all have different colors, and it feels like they are engulfed in colors I can't see. That's what I feel when I look at film photos. those rich colorsI'm happy when I fall in love with film photography. whereupon After all, it must be a film camera. I think so.

In the midst of many variables

A journey in search of taste

It's true that each film camera and various films have their own characteristics, but film photography has so many variables. The day's weather, temperature, humidity.. The lenses, films, etc. you use... Even different pictures are created depending on the date the film was made. whereupon Just because you use the same camera and film doesn't necessarily create the same feeling.

Of course, among them, I The camera I usually work with, and filmsI'm going to talk about it. But by all means There is no need to use the same camera model. At the end of the day, it's essentially about creating the same film photo, so it will be a journey of finding your taste from many variables.

I'll tell you about film photography like this

I'm going to share my film photography know-how to those who are new to film cameras or those who have film cameras but haven't been able to use them properly.

  • Types and characteristics of film cameras and films
  • Basic camera functions and operation
  • About lenses, focal length, and depth of field
  • Film selection and use
  • Manual and automatic cameras
  • Portrait photography and light (about the direction and exposure of light)
  • Picture composition (various compositions and focal points)
  • Create your own DIY filters to take pictures
  • Troubleshooting solution (film pictures didn't come out well)

The most common question you've asked me, “What camera do you use?” I'd like to take this opportunity to talk about the answers to About the types of cameras and films I love, and me How to shoot Let's talk about it in class.

Capturing a person

A film camera that can't shoot continuously, like a digital camera, makes you breathe better, especially when taking pictures of people. It's also a job that requires dialogue and communication. Of course, the person is important, but what surrounds that person situations. I'll tell you how to direct that situation or capture the situation itself.

A composition, a composition, a composition that really has no right answer

Among the many elements that complete a picture compositionI really don't think there's a right answer to that. If you get stuck in composition, photography can be difficult. But definitely Each one's own styledoes exist! Also, it's a very simple and difficult thing that can give fun and appeal to photographs. So I'd like to tell you how to shoot in various compositions and how to expand your thinking. Along the way, you'll be able to discover a composition that reflects your own taste.

The light that influences the picture

While looking at film photos, have you ever seen a photo that was brighter or darker because the light was captured in a different way than I had thought, or a photo where light leaked into one corner of the photo? Unlike digital cameras that can take pictures without failure, film photography Effects of lightI get a lot of When taking pictures indoors or outdoors, I'll show you how to use light and how to record photos as intended as much as possible.

Without a candidate

How to create an atmosphere

This is my last know-how to make photography fun. Use it by putting it in front of the camera lens Build your own filterI'll try it. You can create your own DIY filters to add color and create a new atmosphere.

What is the purpose of digital

Getting infinitely close to analog

The designs of newly released cameras increasingly resemble older cameras, and I think the technical aspects that digital cameras want to implement will eventually feel close to analog. After all, what is the beauty that people instinctively seek naturalnessMaybe it's coming from?

Rather than creating a result by creating light, Capturing a fleeting moment while waiting for the light. It may feel cumbersome and uncomfortable, but I'd like to tell you about the appeal of film photography, which is multiplied by several times. I'd like you to start with me.

Shin Hye-rim

Hello! I'm Shin Hye-rim, a photographer. I'm capturing the people, moments, and scenes I love. I started film photography by chance, but now it's my favorite job.

When I first came across photography, I wanted to find something I liked. I was a little uneasy about the situation when I didn't know what I wanted to do or what I liked. I have to live without even knowing what my tastes are, but that feeling when I first came across photography in the midst of anxiety I think it could be called comfort.

So what I want to show you with my photos is the comfort and comfort I received at that time. I want people who see my photos to feel as warm and comforted as the moment I met them.
