Since we launched the Hanbok Sphere-Joint Doll Cine Doll brand in 2011, we have opened a studio for people who love Hanbok dolls since March 2015. The workshop aims to dress dolls of all sizes in a variety of hanbok, and offers research on the dolls themselves, lessons on doll hanbok patterns, and production techniques for each item. Activities such as Hanbok material research, prop development, and reproduction of ancient Hanbok are also carried out professionally. The class I prepared this time marks the beginning of all the courses introduced earlier, From the most important beginner courses to the application stage of the courseI'm going to cover it.

A colorful and brightly shining hanbok

Do you have any memories of the beautiful hanbok that your mom gave you on a holiday day when you were a kid? The moment I got dressed up, I felt as happy as if I had become a princess:) After I had everything covered, I didn't want to wear hanbok only on special occasions, so I started wearing it on dolls. Let's make a hanbok for dolls to wear with the beautiful color and atmosphere unique to hanbok!

Hanbok has many advantages even if you make it smaller. It takes less fabric, and the production process is simplified, so it can be finished quickly. A handmade doll hanbok would be the prettiest thing to wear, but even if you don't wear it, it can be a meaningful gift that captures the beauty of tradition, right? You can also finish a few works and hang them on the wall or frame them to use as interior accessories. It's small and cute, so just looking at it will make you laugh.

Let's deal with three types of fabrics.

The works created in class are broadly divided into basic works and applied works. The skirt or jeogori, which are the basic components of Hanbok, will be finished with soft silk fabrics. Silk itself is a very fine and elegant fabric, so the basic composition itself makes a great work.

After creating a basic work, I will complete a total of 6 applied works using the techniques and patterns I have learned. I've set up a kit so that I can create works using cotton fabric and cotton fabrics that are used quite often in Hanbok. Working with various fabrics is also very helpful in improving your skills, so I hope you can create a variety of configurations with well-prepared fabrics.

I'm going to try to make the Cheolrik dress, which is fashionable these days, even more complete by wearing a padded skirt. Isn't it really pretty because the blue color blends with the colorful floral fabric?

Even if it's made of the same color fabric, you can create a different design with a patch, embroidery, or button of the desired shape. I will also introduce important methods such as how to make a perfect basic configuration of a hanbok and how to calculate skirt wrinkles, so I hope you will learn the basics thoroughly through this class.

Hanbok tailored to 'my' doll

The biggest advantage of this class is that you can learn a pattern that fits the doll and complete it in the desired shape regardless of size. So after finishing the class, I really want to teach you the basics so that I can finish it in the desired size.

At the very beginning, I'll show you how to determine the characteristics and measurements of dolls with spherical joints and various domestic and international dolls. Once I understand the doll's body shape, I will stock the perfect size for the doll and draw the pattern myself.

Once you understand the pattern properly, you won't be afraid to make a variety of doll sizes as well as human-sized hanbok. I'm also going to give you an official pattern map containing my know-how in the basic kit so that even first-time pattern learners can follow along. You can easily draw a pattern of any size by substituting only the formula.

Sweat, sweat, the charm of hand-stitching

After all, the most essential element in completing a work is hand stitching. Along with the hand-sewing know-how taught during an offline course, I will learn various techniques to complete a hanbok. If you carefully hand-stitch, the effect of relaxing your mind is extra! This is it:)

Hidden details create something special

The beauty of Hanbok is often cited as an attraction. In order to have a beautiful silhouette like a flower bud, even if you're a doll, you need to wear underwear. I don't know how lovely it is to see the tabi that you see when you walk around the skirt, the underwear, and the underskirt meticulously packed together.

The cute embellishment that only dolls have

My favorite step is putting on a beautiful hanbok and then making a matching decoration to decorate it. Dress up your hair using hairpins, dangi, and pumpkin belly dangi as appropriate, and put a pacifier woven with a simple knotted method on your hanbok. You can also make all the decorations that make a beautiful hanbok even more atmospheric!

Ahn Doll Hanbok

I'm Ahn Sang Hee ^^ I've been researching and teaching doll hanbok professionally since 2015. At first, I was looking for a doll to promote Hanbok, and then I decided to make a doll with a spherical joint. Also, during the class, there were so many dolls that the members brought, so I fell in love with dolls after coming across many dolls ^^;; Currently, in addition to specialized classes at the workshop, I also attend Ehwa Women's University Lifelong Education Center to teach < Traditional Hanbok Miniature> classes.

I wanted to try on a wider variety of dolls in every kind of hanbok of our clothes. I don't know how fortunate I am because I'm not the only one who likes doll hanbok. Every year, we have a fun exhibition with members who are strong supporters of Doll Hanbok and partners who cherish tradition. ^^

I did it because I liked it, but as I tried it, my job grew ^^;;;
