I work on digital illustrations and animations, watercolors, and drawings. I also spend time in offline classes where classes are held on various topics. This time in class 101 <Character illustrations that capture emotion in the everyday lives of various women>I'm going to draw with all of you.

I like illustrations drawn using my everyday memories as materials or adding a little bit of imagination to those memories. I'm going to draw that kind of picture in this class. There's a story I've heard a lot every time I show you a picture. I'm a little embarrassed, but I'll try to figure it out. “I think I definitely had this kind of memory. It also brings back memories that weren't there.” But I think the reason I got that kind of impression is because I drew a moment that might be in everyday life.

Also, I think the appearance of someone who looks familiar or comfortable will also play a part. Also, everyday moments and comfortable, natural portraits are something I can do well. I set up a class based on a method that reached the hearts of people who saw my paintings.

Let's start with a lightweight combination of iPad and Procreate

I draw on my iPad and the Procreate app. I like the combination of these two because it's light. You can take your iPad anywhere, and the Procreate app is lightweight, simple, and packed with useful features. It's not a pity to work on high-quality illustrations. It's not difficult to create a simple animation with this app, so I really like it.

At the beginning of the class, I'll show you the basic usage of ProCreate. I'll pick a brush together and show you the layer function along with an example. Let's take a look at how to use various other features together.

It's hard to be alone, so let's join

If you don't know how to draw character illustrations, start with me. You'll learn how to draw simplified bone and muscle shapes, the characteristics of each part, common mistakes, and how to make a pattern.

Next, I'll draw a 360-degree human body with a demonstration, and I'll show you how to draw by identifying the human body and pose from the photographic material. I also need to draw a variety of body shapes! Skinny people, muscular people, and even fleshy people. I'll apply what you've learned in this class so you can practice freely.

If I've sketched a human body, I'll try putting clothes on it. Let's take a look at how to express wrinkles that vary depending on the material and shape of the garment, and with the posture. The advantage of digital illustrations is that they are easy to edit. After a quick coloring, I'll use the program's functions to correct the color, apply a base color, and apply a shadow on top of it. I'll also show you the correction methods I often use. The process is easier than you think, and the results will be better than expected.

When I paint, I pay the most attention to the color created by light and shadow, and the flow of the screen created by the light. The mood of the picture changes a lot depending on the color of the shadows. I love shadows to create the mood of my paintings. I think the color of the shadow that best matches each picture is different, so I think about finding the perfect color every time I draw. I'll share with you all the know-how I've been thinking about.

Instead of a female human body like a Barbie doll, you can draw some shapes that look like bones, muscles, and flesh are alive.
