The typeface I'm going to tell you about this time is the same font that has been seen a lot on Instagram. It's a representative typeface for English calligraphy. Just Italian Italic It's.

Italian, vintage itself

Edit Image Info Italic is also the typeface that got me started with English calli in earnest. something A look that also has a vintage yet modern feelI was very attracted to italics because it was so unique.

Italics comes from the writing itself Old-fashioned styleIt's a typeface with. Among the many typefaces in English calligraphy, I like italics because it has a variety of hidden charms.

Italics are easy to transform, but they have the advantage that the classic look does not change even if it is modified to a certain extent. It's also one of the few fonts you can control in your own style after learning the basic forms.

We'll start with a fountain pen.

Edit Image Info I think calligraphy should be accessible to everyone, but getting started with classic English italics requires a lot of preparation. Starting with tools.

Edit Image Info

whereupon Easy-to-handle fountain penIt starts with. It's a tool where classic and modern coexist. A fountain pen is a writing instrument that is filled with ink, and is similar to the ballpoint pens and ballpoint pens we commonly use, but the writing feeling given by nibs and the writing made with ink has a sensibility that cannot be felt on other writing instruments. Just looking at the ink seeping into the paper is healing.

A new encounter, 1.9 mm nip

Edit Image Info Fountain pens with a 1.9 mm flat nib are not common. At first, the writing feeling was very strange.

However, it's really impossible to understand that a single nip shape can express such a variety of strokes, such as the change in stroke caused by a flat nip, especially the change in thickness that changes with the angle. If you learn the strokes that only a 1.9 mm nib can make, you can create luxurious italics.

I'll smash the alphabet one by one.

Edit Image Info We'll learn those basic forms together. It looks like it's printed, but it's a typeface that's easier to follow than you might think. Like many typefaces, most of the alphabetic shapes of italics change depending on the characteristics of the tool.

This means that if you know how to handle tools and learn the rules for writing the alphabet, you can easily write letters that look like they have been printed by hand. Similarly, in this lesson, we'll break the alphabet one by one.

How to properly practice the italic alphabet

Edit Image Info Relatively easy to use I'm going to start with a mono line pen. I'm going to learn the framework of the Italian alphabet and complete it with a 1.9 mm nib on top of it. Only by practicing this way can you refine italics more easily. Of course, after practice, the degree of completion is much higher.

Edit Image Info The actual class will also include a video of using mono line italics with an M nib. Being able to use a variety of fonts with the same tool is very exciting. It's like learning one more foreign language and mastering 2 or 3 languages.

English calli flower “italic typeface”

Edit Image Info If I write slowly and for a long time and stubbornly study my Italian lessons, An italic typeface called the flower of English calligraphyYou can complete it.

Edit Image Info

Since it's not a normal font or a typeface made with ordinary tools, it's just the process of refining the alphabet Enough sense of accomplishmentYou can get it. Complete a neat sentenceIn the process, your mind will be healed, and the stress of everyday life will melt away.
