A beautiful cultural heritage of Korea We run a variety of experience programs so that not only experts but also the general public can easily access “Dancheong”. In addition, we specialize in training on Buddhist art, cultural property repair techniques, and functions.

What is “Dancheong”?

Dancheong is a representative color of an important traditional wooden structure in Korea, and is painted in obangshoku (blue, red, yellow, white, black)It refers to. Dancheong's purpose is not only to beautify, but also to protect buildings from rain, wind, and pests.

I think you've fallen in love with the beauty of Dancheong at our palace, which is visited by many people! Through this class, you don't have to look up for a long time by raising your head to many people, I would like to share Dancheong as the person closest to the lives of our ancestors.

For monochrome coloring

There are special rules.

You must color according to the rules to embody the beauty of traditional Dancheong. In this class, we'll learn the meaning of Dancheong pattern and the rules of coloring in detail.. We will also paint our own colors, get to know our beautiful traditional Dancheong, and even create your own interior accessories together. Everyone who is interested in traditional culture and traditional art is welcome!

I'm going to make something like this.

[Artwork 1] I'm going to make a “decoration that can be attached to a bag” that can be a special point with just one item.

[Artwork 2] Then No matter where you walk, you'll be able to create a nice “wall decoration.”

[Artwork 3] They'll also be making highly versatile “coasters” that have a different pattern and meaning than wall decorations.

[Artwork 4] Finally, I'm going to make an “ear-face picture frame” that chases bad luck and brings good luck.

Dancheong's dignity and nobility

It starts with the materials used.

At Bukchon Dancheong Workshop, we have spent a long time analyzing, investigating, and restoring ancient buildings such as palaces and temples. 100% inorganic pigments that can create traditional, vivid and calm colors with a long experienceI made it. It compensates for the shortcomings of existing stone and chemical pigments to create a deeper and richer color.

Our traditions Dancheong's character is not only revealed by the splendor of the pattern, but its uniqueness begins with the materials used. If you use Bukchon Dancheong pigment, you can also complete our beautiful and vivid Dancheong.

Also, We also prepared Dancheong Maca which is safe enough for young children to use without any problems. Even those who are new to Dancheong coloring can feel free to start with maca.

The path to preserving traditional culture is not far off.

Learn more about the all-in-one kit

mono pigment kit

It is an inorganic pigment made from stone powder in the traditional way rather than poster paint.

We directly develop high-quality pigments that do not lose color even when exposed to sunlight for a long time, and even distribute them in an appropriate amount. Since the traditional monochrome color is expressed as it is, there is no need to mix multiple colors.

Dancheong pattern

A pattern carefully drawn by a cultural property repair engineer can be clearly engraved through laser processing and colored on it. You'll learn how to color in a traditional way according to Dancheong's rules, and learn how to make bag hangers and wall hangings using colored patterns.

An unfamiliar Dancheong tool, how do you use it?

It's not just about coloring.

I make a hole with a candle needle, draw a sketch with typom, and then color it.

I use a bat set when drawing a round plum shop or a democratic store.

Able to improve quality

We will introduce additional components.

1. Dancheong pigment, 12 types, small (small) size

In addition to the all-in-one kit, you can also purchase additional coasters and pigments needed to color moonshine. It consists of a smaller amount than the pigments in the all-in-one kit, and includes a thinner, binder, a stopper, and a trial brush.

2. 1 set of 2 coaster patterns

We will give you all 2 of the most popular patterns at Bukchon Kobo.

Charity money and annual lanterns not included in the all-in-one kit are laser sketched on plywood. How about gifting a friend with a coaster you've painted yourself?

3. Monthly hanging set

This wall-hanging set consists of 3 coin patterns and knots. It's beautiful to hang just one set of wall-hangings, but if you hang multiple sets of colorful wall-hangings, the space looks even nicer.

📌 Knot colors will be sent randomly.

4. Gold pigment 100g

Gold pigment is not originally a traditional monochrome color. It is a color developed in modern times to be more colorful. Traditional pigments are organic, but gold pigments are made from inorganic materials. Comes with 100 grams of gold pigment and 100 grams of binder.
