Skills You’ll Learn
It's not important to be good at it,
Even if you're not good at it, the experience of expressing yourself is important.
When I was drawing as a kid, I remember erasing lines tightly with an eraser even if I didn't like them a little bit. Even when I cut something, it fits the line perfectly, so if it doesn't cut, it's a matter of giving up right away. When I was young, I think I was full of thoughts about “don't be wrong.” However, I changed my mind when I came across materials called colored paper and scissors. The clumsy cropped shapes came out more familiar and nicer. Then feel free to come and say, “It's okay if you're not perfect or clumsy. Great as it is! ' I felt it. I wanted to give children who are burdened with perfection an experience where they express themselves while playing a little more comfortably and having an adventure.
Hello,
It is “near by home” looking for materials close to home.
I was very fascinated by the open ending that can be expressed through colored paper. The stranger the shape, the more I liked it the more I liked it. As a result, I was drawn to new shapes, and I was able to regain my confidence more and more. That's how I started working with colored paper, and now I'm also working as a picture book writer!
A journey to find your own color and shape!
From the basics of paper art to picture book design!
I'll let you know at the kids' eye level!
- Laying the foundations of paper art
- Representing butterflies with faces and lines
- Meet various animals using a single shape (workbook picture book expression)
- A person who completes with personality and character traits (workbook picture book expression)
- Making a picture book with your own story (Designing a picture book)
Adventures are unstable and scary
I can grow that much!
It's time to lay the foundations of paper art. The “crooked” scissor shape may be the first thing I encounter. How cool! It's the only “shape of me” in the world. Even with poor skills, I can fully express myself and meet wonderful works. Every time you paint, it's not a color that changes depending on the intensity, all you have to do is combine the colors that have already been created to your heart's content. It's a painless job of coloring. I'll also introduce some of the wonderful color combinations I've experienced, so let's make a color chart together and list the colors to find your own color.
I only focus on shapes and colors!
Let's try to describe a nice butterfly!
After laying the basics of paper art, I'll try to express a butterfly! I'll freely shape the butterfly and express it with my own sense! Through the limitless experience of ducking, I think it would be nice if children could say more about “I tried this and it was fun” rather than saying “I'm not good at it.”
The method is simple, and the work is diverse!
I'm going to do a variety of work based on animals and people!
“I want to make this shape, but how do I do it?” Don't worry I'm going to share some shapes first through the guidebook I've prepared. By the time you feel familiar with the shape, you will naturally think about and find your own shape by adding and subtracting according to your preferences.
Even with the same shape, there are endless ways that can be applied depending on the “size, thickness, cutting method, and position.” Start with one shape, create multiple shapes, and say, “Shall we try this? Shall we try something like that? Next time, I should try this. ' Let's add a fun imagination.
A very precious work!
The clumsily cut shape itself becomes a work of art.
Various completed works can also be framed in the kit! It's a wonderful one-of-a-kind interior accessory in the world!
I'm going to put my paper art in a picture book.
It's not difficult,
I'll let you know everything slowly.
For a child who may be overwhelmed by the first time, I will approach it by filling in a simple workbook and experience the principles of picture books for myself, and then at the end I will have time to really write a “I” story.
[Dino-ya, what are you doing today?]
This is a book where the story unfolds while asking about the day of Dinosaur Dino. “Dino-ya, what are you eating today?” , “Dino-ya, what are you wearing today?” While calling a friend's name in a friendly manner, children can think about what that friend will do today through the workbook, choose their own, and cut and paste colored paper on top of it using the elements in the workbook. It can be burdensome to fill in a blank page from the beginning. Therefore, you can practice filling in picture books little by little, and learn how to create a picture book story with an easy and simple conversation.
[I like it]
All works [Dinoya, what are you doing today?] Rather, it is a workbook that enhances children's participation and autonomy. Because it's a simple structure, children can imagine even more. Also, the book asks children a variety of questions about what kind of things do you like. Through these questions, children can learn what I like and practice expressions.
What do I like about the beginning of picture books? First of all, if you know what I like, when I create a story later, I can get a lot of stories from the parts I'm usually interested in. This may help with the next final “make your own picture book”.
From story composition to picture book cover design!
Full of my own stories with picture book writers
I'm really going to compose a picture book.
[Make Your Own Picture Book - 16P]
A picture book I made with my own hands! What if “Written by OOO” was written at the front of the picture book? From character creation to story composition! Slowly create your own story little by little while sharing the things you think about when making a picture book. Don't worry too much about being alone. We've prepared some thought-provoking questions for creating a story for each chapter. These are questions I ask a lot when I'm actually working. The characters and stories I created can come to life in my own book! I can't wait to see what stories you'll meet!

Hallo It's a “near by home” who likes to work from home and is looking for materials close to home. As you repeat something over and over, you get used to it, and its look/behavior becomes fixed, right? In a case like me, I heard colored paper and scissors when I began to get bored with the lines and shapes I used over and over again. At first, I just randomly cut without any sketches. At the same time, I felt the happiness of not being accurate but clunky.
As I worked lightly, casually, and in a fun way, I also participated in the Seoul Illustration Fair using the works piled up. Things made simply for my own fun become products, so people buy them and use them! It was a wonderful experience.
Also, as I keep working, I suddenly think of interesting stories. Then, on a blank sheet of paper, draw or write a story and an image that comes to mind, and then step by step complete a story.
One of the attractions of picture books is that you can capture your world in one volume. I can express my favorite things and thoughts to my heart's content in picture books. Also, sometimes I can communicate with pictures and writing rather than words, and a picture book is the case. I think a good book is a book that melts with a calm smile and a warm heart the moment you cover it, and I think the appeal of picture books is that they enable that kind of communication.
Expressing “what I like” to the fullest in a casual and fun way is the foundation of my work. Would you like to try it together?
