What is blush lettering?

Lettering means designing and writing letters. Among them, those that use tools such as brush pens or water brushes are called brush lettering.

Draw pop and elegant lettering with colorful watercolor brush pens

Hello! This is Danae (Danae) from Danae Lettering. I like writing unique characters that are not bound by rules, and I am particularly good at blush lettering, which is done colorfully with colorful brush pens.

“Pencils and pens are easy to handle, but when it comes to brush, I can't express myself the way I think.”

“I want to write cute characters, but I'm at a loss about the color scheme”

Don't you think that?

For inexperienced people or beginners, writing with a brush may feel a bit difficult. However, if you know the tricks and practice while having fun, you should be able to draw lettering that satisfies you. You don't need to be perfect! Let's enjoy drawing various fonts with all kinds of tools. At the end, you'll find your favorite character style and arrangement method, and you'll be able to draw according to your own image!

Learn the tricks to create your favorite colors with watercolor brush pens and water brushes

In the lesson, we'll start with simple movements to get used to the brush pen. The brush pen has good color development, so you should be able to enjoy it with your eyes during practice. Let's start with a single color and gradually increase the number of colors we use. If you also use a water brush to blend colors, you can create a colorful and cute finish.

Relieve stress by feeling like “drawing” letters instead of “writing” letters!

“Writing” while sticking to the shape of the letters may seem a little stressful. Try facing blush lettering as if you were “drawing” a letter. Your mind will feel so much lighter and you'll fall in love with it.

Decorate schedule books and gift cards with blush lettering

We've selected multiple phrases that will cheer up both first-time users and those who enjoy drawing by hand on a regular basis. Why don't you draw phrases you write down in your schedule book, gift cards to send to loved ones, and artwork to decorate your room with Happy phrases?

lettering artist

In 2016, when I fell in love with the world of hand-drawn characters such as hand lettering and modern calligraphy, I started brush lettering, drawing letters with a brush pen or water brush, on my own.

While posting hand lettering works on Instagram, they hold one-off workshops and course-based private lessons on an irregular basis.

Other than that, we also provide works to books and corporate media, design titles for product packages, supervise and produce brush lettering exercise books, and do hand lettering services for drawing on the spot at corporate events.

Other than hand drawing, she is a mother of 2 children who loves handmade things in general, such as paper art and making piñatas.

[Creator Interview]

Q. What led you to start blush lettering?

A. Originally, I had a job that had nothing to do with hand-drawn characters, but I fell in love at first sight with a blush lettering work I happened to see on SNS, and I don't know, but I want to try it too! I opened my current Instagram account on the same day while keeping up the momentum.

Since I lived in South America when I was a kid, I was used to writing the alphabet, so when I thought I would be able to do it soon, I made a big mistake... I realized that I wasn't just writing cursive... I was completely addicted to the fun of hand-drawn characters and modern scripts, and I'm so addicted to the fun of hand-drawn characters and modern scripts that have continued to this day.

Q. Please give a message to the students!

A. I would like students to overcome their sense of weakness and experience lots of new discoveries and the fun of hand-drawn characters through this class. The goal in this class isn't to perfect the work, and it's important to [enjoy] brush lettering above all else, so even if you think you've made a slight mistake, you'll get attached to the work you were able to draw happily, and I think you'll want to show it to someone or give it to someone.

If you feel free to share in the comments section not only what you were able to draw cutely in class, but also things that you made such mistakes or were not good at here, I will give you as much advice as possible.

Let's enjoy colorful blush lettering together throughout the class!
