Skills You’ll Learn

The basics of cartonnage

Beginners can learn from the basics of cartonnage without worry.

Easy and cute way to make

You will learn how to easily and cutely make things you can use around you.

You can make it even for the first time! Why don't you make a cute cartonnage piece?

This class consists of a curriculum where you can learn from the basics so that even those who are new to cartonnage can make it. Cartonnage is a technique born in France where cloth is attached to a box made of cardboard.

In the curriculum, we will create works using a total of 5 cute Liberty prints, from simple ones to slightly more difficult ones. The work is an item that can be used in everyday life in a cute way, such as card cases, accessory cases, etc.

I'll tell everyone who takes this class a lot of “tips to make it cute” by creator Atelier RayRay Reiko!

This class is recommended for people like this

☑ ︎ Those who want to try cartonnage but can't easily step forward

☑ ︎ Those who gave up by studying books etc. on their own because they didn't know how to make them

☑ ︎ Those who want to make things around them by hand

☑ ︎ I like Liberty fabric

☑ ︎ I like cute things

Let's start by learning the basics of cartonnage

“The threshold for cartonnage is too high to start easily...”

“If it's a book, I don't really understand how to make it, so I give up along the way...”

Even if it's your first time and are interested in cartonnage, I think there are many people who have such concerns.

In this class, the curriculum is structured so that you can start by creating simple works where you can learn the basics of cartonnage, and gradually acquire techniques that are leveled up as the lesson progresses.

Create 5 works, from card cases to accessory cases

In this class, each chapter has a card case, notebook cover, small accessory tray, accessory case, small item caseI will produce 5 works of

Each work is an original design arranged by creator Reiko so that traditional French cartonnage can be easily created.

Also, all of the works I've created are useful items in daily life, so even after making them, I have a lineup that you can enjoy not just decorating, but also using them in your daily life.

It's a wonderful thing to make things around us by hand, isn't it? Let's create it carefully together!

We have prepared 2 types of kits to choose from so that even experienced people can enjoy it

Liberty fabrics selected only by creator Reiko are available for the kit. Liberty fabrics are prepared with different patterns depending on stock status due to production convenience, but we will send you fabrics selected based on the popular pink color.

Also, there are 2 types of kits, and in addition to an all-in-one kit for beginners who don't have the basic tools necessary for cartonnage, a basic kit composed of fabric and cut cardboard is also available so that experienced people can enjoy it.

I hope you choose a kit that is easy for you to work on yourself and enjoy taking the course.

Curriculum

Creator

I learned about cartonnage when I was looking for interior accessories that fit the imported house I moved to about 10 years ago, and I was taught about cartonnage from the basics at a cartnage association.

Sales of cartonnage works created by oneself began on the occasion of the birth of a child. I have 7 years of sales experience.

Hair accessory cases for little girls are popular on Instagram and are always sold out.

[Creator Interview]

Q. What kind of activities do you do?

Mainly artwork sales.

We may also put it up for POP ups at department stores and fashion buildings. From now on, I want to tell many people what I think is cute, so I plan to do a lot of lessons and kit sales.

Q. What inspired you to start cartonnage?

I moved to the imported house I had been longing for about 10 years ago, but it wasn't easy to find interior accessories (tissue cases, trash cans, remote control racks, etc.) that fit my home at the time. I learned about cartonnage when I was looking for it, and I thought I should make it myself, so I started making it.

Q. Why did CLASS101 offer online classes?

I was deeply moved by the fact that they called out to me, and since the children entered kindergarten in a timely manner and time was made, I thought this was a relationship. I just wanted to share my cute things and things with many people, so I started the course.

Q. What points did you put the most effort into planning your classes?

Cartonnage takes a long time to complete a work. I've made it possible to tell you how to create a cute and satisfying work even by yourself without spending much time, even for first-time users.

Q. What kind of experience do you want students to have through this class?

I want you to complete cute items that aren't sold in stores and feel the fun and fulfillment of making them. Also, I think you'll feel even more fulfilled if you use the finished product yourself or give it as a heartfelt present for someone special.
