Q. How would you define your piano in one word?

If I had to define my piano in any word, would it be chameleon? The story is that I know very well what position I am in as a performer right now. As a melodrama, I show a piano that clearly shows my color, and when I work with other singers, I try to play a piano that suits him well. Also, when I go on stage at a jazz festival or small theater, I become a provocative pianist and a calm pianist according to that mood. Each role changes the main laws and techniques, and it's called touch, and the feel of a piano tag is completely different. The sound is also changing. Therefore, I think my piano can be described as a chameleon that understands this role very well and transforms freely. In pop songs I work on, the singer is the main character, so the piano requires a process of putting down the main character. The goal is to remove the techniques I can show and thoroughly match the vocals.

Q. Where do you get materials for writing lyrics?

I felt that I had so much love when I gave up on myself, even music, so I began to be interested in writing lyrics with the intention of “Let's send a message to love one's own life.” I always try to find joy in everyday life, and I think my quality of life will improve as I do so, so I'm unraveling the various sources I've seen, heard, and felt in the smallest moments of everyday life with my own lyrics. An example would be the lyrics of <kissing>. There's a part called “Lend me your lips,” and the lyrics were written by thinking of women saying “Lend me some lips” while fixing their makeup. I remember writing this at dawn and admiring myself alone.

I want to be a musician who nods when I say “Kim Min-seok.” It's a nod that includes all of these things, “Kim Min-suk is good at singing, what she thinks is wonderful.” And I want you to always be happy when you listen to our songs, and I don't think this will change. When dealing with life, I want to make and sing songs that make people think, “I can be happy enough.”
