What is MySQL Workbench (Workbench)?

MySQL Workbench is an application with ERD authoring capabilities for defining tables and relationships between tables in a database. It is used in the database design phase when implementing user services to define sets (tables) of data and relationships (foreign keys) between them.

Course topics

This course How to design a database model using MySQL WorkbenchIt contains the contents of the lecture on The main content Download, install, and basic features of MySQL WorkbenchExplain, SQL development environment and server management featuresI would like to introduce it. In particular, Create database modeling (Data Modeling) and ER Diagram (ER Diagram)With a focus on, How to define and express entities (tables), attributes (columns), and relationships (relationships)is explained through specific examples (such as employment-department information). Also, Notation for 1:N relationships and Identified/non-identified relationships, required/optional conditionsIt deals with the effects on the physical table structure, How to create physical tables with data in models (Forward Engineer)et Various modeling cases (hierarchy, history management, subtypes, etc.)I will finish the lecture by presenting

Things to learn

This course Use MySQL WorkbenchIt is a course for systematic learning from the basics of data modeling to practical application.

✅ Section 1: Data Modeling Fundamentals and Environment Setup

The concept of ERD (object-relationship diagram)and I understand basic knowledge about why it's needed.
The three stages of data modeling, namely Conceptual models, logical models, physical modelsThe differences between are clearly distinguished. In particular, The workbench model is close to the physical modelIt emphasizes points to prevent confusion.
For practice Install MySQL Workbench and MySQL ServerIt also sets up the environment, and details the process of specifying the port and setting the root (root) user password when setting up the server.

✅ Section 2: ERD design exercises using a workbench

In a workbench environment How to use the ERD Creation ToolLearn and practice adding entities, attributes, and relationships (Relationships).
1:1, 1:N, N:M relationships Transformations and settings, referential integrity (Foreign Key) settings, cardinality, etc. Different relationship typesIt is covered in depth through case studies.

✅ Section 3: Model-Based Database Management

The completed ERD model actual Deploy to database (Forward Engineer)Learn how to create a table by doing it.
Read the schema of an existing database and create an ERD model (Reverse Engineer)Learn practical application techniques and complete model-based database management skills.
'Pet Diary' App SystemThe screen design of and ERD written in MySQL WorkbenchLet's take a look at
We will also take a detailed look at the various models divided into six other cases.

Through this course, in a MySQL environment Efficient data modeling and management capabilitiesYou can secure it.
