Key lessons learned in class

Understanding pottery Let's take a moment to take a quick look at the general aspects of pottery. This class will be even more enjoyable if you don't just try coloring, but also learn about the process by which pottery vessels are completed!

Coloring exercises Before I start coloring directly on this bowl, I'm going to do some coloring exercises on the practice tiles. It's time to get to know the brush, and prepare to create a more satisfying finished work by drawing clean lines and grasping colors.

porcelain hand painting Do you know that? It means you can scrape off a piece of pottery with an awl, carve a pattern, and then color it! Let's learn more about pottery coloring techniques like this. Let's draw your own pictures by applying these techniques to a total of 3 priming machines!

Q & A

Q. I'm not confident in painting, can I still do it? Sure! Simply repeating the same picture/pattern can be a feel-good bowl! You can express spring with just colors without painting, and since I will give you a basic design, you can do it if you have the strength to pick up a brush.

Q. How do you finish a pottery bowl after coloring it? Doesn't it have to be baked one more time? Yes, that's right. We'll send you the items that have been firmed for the first time, and you will be able to color them. You can send the painted bowl to Easy, Your Design Workshop. Once the second firing process is finished in the workshop, we will return it safely to you!

Q. What should I do if my bowl breaks during shipping? Damage during the first delivery (workshop to home) will be shipped again. Damage during the second delivery (house-workshop) will be reworked as similar as possible based on the damaged equipment. Damage during the third delivery (workshop-home) is the rarest case, but we will rework and send it as similarly as possible based on the equipment up to the second delivery.

Q. Is this only possible with the design or sample design that comes out during class? That's not it! In the class, I'll show you how to use a brush, how to draw patterns, and how to express yourself in a variety of ways. You can apply it to make your own pottery set.

Q. What if I don't have enough pottery paint while painting? Pottery paints are different from ordinary watercolors. Basically, we will send it with plenty of time, but if it's a hat, please check the color with a pencil before sending it. I'll send you the checked part after I finished coloring it in the workshop.

Q. 🙋 Can I get the practice tiles after firing them for a second time? The practice tiles are for practicing coloring with watercolor paints! Watercolor paint is different from pottery paint, so if it is fired in a kiln, the color will not come out clearly. The crafting process in this class package only applies to the first 3 cards! (You must return the practice tiles so they can be reused in the workshop.)

Q. 🙋 How long do I have to send pottery vessels for secondary firing to the workshop? The first 3 rounds for the second firing must be sent to the workshop within 16 weeks from the opening date of the class, and after that, attendance and secondary firing will not be supported.

1 practice tile

Before working on this bowl, I'll practice on a practice tile with watercolor paint to get a little more familiar with the brush.

Practice paint

It's a watercolor paint, and it disappears during kiln work.

Primer Chapter 3

Two round plates of different sizes and one square tile plate are provided, and this is a bowl for secondary firing!

pottery paint

It is a special paint for pottery. The color is darker in the kiln with colored soil. It comes in five colors: washable, blue, light, blue, and black.

brush

A total of 3 brushes are provided: a thin brush, a medium brush, and a large brush, and it is a round brush with a pointed tip.

pencils

It is used for sketching, and no matter how wrong or unclean it is, it will all be erased in the kiln.

drill

I use an awl to color and bring out details.

Other auxiliary materials

We will provide a guide and a design, and we will also send a return delivery paper as you will need to send an uncut with Easy and Your Design for secondary firing.

<DELUXE PACKAGE>

In an all-in-one package 3 small round plates(First Earning) will be added!

In the case of Jeju/mountainous areas, additional shipping charges may apply

🙋 Practice tiles must also be sent to the workshop along with the priming machine, and are not subject to secondary firing. It's literally a practice tile, and the bowl you get again after finishing firing for the second time is 3 pieces of priming! (You must return the practice tiles so they can be reused in the workshop.)

🙋 You must send the first 3 cards for the second firing session to the workshop within 16 weeks from the class opening date.

Hello! I'm Kim Ui-yeon, who runs a pottery workshop called Easy, Your Design. Pottery is made by hand from soil and is heated in two kilns. It is completed as a one-of-a-kind work in the world that is similar but never the same. I think this online class will be a great time for people who want to try out a different hobby called “pottery,” which may be unfamiliar but uses soil as drawing paper.
