Q. Please tell me what led you to become a pojagi artist!

A. Anyway, I like fabrics and wrapping, and since I was little, I really enjoyed watching things neatly wrapped in front of the wrapping corner of department stores. The people doing the wrapping were smiling, and everyone watching the finished wrapping was smiling. I remember thinking that beautiful wrapping could make people so happy.

A few years ago, there was a time when I was seriously ill and couldn't leave my house for a long time. I received a lot of encouragement from my family and friends, and when I was about to send a thank-you gift, I wanted to express my feelings more than just things.

I was so shocked when I found something wrapped in pojagi. Even though I've had a lot of things in my house since ancient times! I can't believe that would be so beautiful! It was just scales from my eyes. It's just one piece of cloth, but it's a magical presence that makes people happy. And I think every time they're happy. Oh, I'm glad I became a pojagi artist. Once you've completed this class, everyone is already a pojagi artist.

Q. What kind of experience do you want the students to have through this class?

A. Have you ever used cloth for wrapping? I think there are many people who answer that it's not surprising. I would like you to make use of the wrapping method you learned in this class as a gift. Choosing the color of the pojagi while thinking about the other person, deciding how to tie it, carefully wrapping it, and tying it... wrapping with a cloth is more fun and exciting than I thought! I think the joy of being pleased and the joy of being pleased will surely increase joy in everyday life.

Q. Please give a message to the students!

A. “Pojagi Art” is still not so well known in Japan, but thank you for your interest and participation. You can use any cloth, not just pojagi, so please use it more and more in your daily life. I think it would be nice if there were even a little more fun things.
