I'm curious about the video translation workflow!

Hallo I'm Ham Hye-suk, a film translator who makes books.

After entering the video translation industry in 2000, I am currently translating English-speaking films and films from Greater China.

<I wrote a book called Living as a Video Translator>, and I am working to train video translators by running “The Line Video Translation Academy” and the video translation company “The Line Media.” I run the publishing house “The LINE BOOKS” and publish books using translations, movies, and books as keywords.

After working as an employee at a video translation company for about 5 years, I became independent as a freelance translator to translate meads, documentaries, theatrical releases, etc., and now I run a translation company, so I know more than anyone else about the changes in the video translation industry and the current market situation. I know the positions of everyone working in the video translation industry, such as the company's position, the translator's position, and the supervisor's position, so I can provide balanced information.

Based on 10 years of experience teaching video translation and producing hundreds of translators, I would like to tell you about mid-translation know-how and how to build a video translation career.

If you want to become a video translator, don't just start studying or send a resume You need to know the current state of the video translation market and set the right direction.

Transforming from Mid Dukhu to a professional video translator

Aren't you tired of watching mead all night long?

Thanks to Mead, there is a high possibility that a video translator will suit your aptitude.

It doesn't have to be a mead virtue. I can “get involved” in the mid through my classes.

Do you have a desire not only to appreciate the mead, but also to translate it yourself? Now I'll show you a specific method so you can start 'studying for mid translation'.

I'll also show you how to avoid mistranslation, the rival of video translators.

“Isn't it easy to translate mead because it uses a lot of everyday conversation?”

There are people who ask this. Yep. That's right. There is also a mead with lots of easy everyday conversations. However, since the difficulty level of mead varies from genre to genre, there are many things to search for without background knowledge, so it's not easy to translate. Also, even though English lines seem easy, they also mistranslate because they can't grasp the context before and after.

Let's think together about how to translate accurately without mistranslation.

If I'm good at foreign languages, will I be good at translating?

“Are education and majors important to become a translator?”

“I have no experience studying abroad, can I become a translator?”

“Do I need to be good at listening and speaking to translate meads?”

“I put my resume in a video translation company and tested it, but it failed. What should I do to pass?”

“Can I eat and live just by translating videos?”

You can also get hints about the most common questions asked by aspiring video translators in the class.

I majored in Chinese literature, but in addition to translating Chinese, I also translate English. Education and majors are not important if you want to be good at translating. 'Foreign language skills+background knowledge+writing ability' These three things need to be balanced. I'll also teach you all about how to do that in class.

Do translators work alone because they are freelancers?

Edit Image Info

Video translators mostly work as freelancers. That's why I have a strong image of being locked up at home and working alone. Half right, half wrong. One translator is responsible for translating each film, but Mead often translates many episodes within a short period of time, so he also “co-translates.”

Therefore, the ability to communicate with business stakeholders and fellow translators is also important. We'll also give you practical tips on how to collaborate on translations and how to communicate with colleagues.

Do translators only have to translate for the rest of their lives?

Edit Image Info

Translators are freelancers, so their lives are always uneasy. It has the advantage of being able to work freely regardless of place and time, but in reality, they are trapped in a “cage without a grate.”

How can we truly “freely” live while doing what we want to do?

Taking this class doesn't mean you can make your debut as a video translator right away, but it can give you directions on how to live as a video translator.

Edit Image Info

I set up a video translation academy and translation company based on my experience in video translation, and set up a publishing house to try to find “translators who write.”

We have planned and published books written by translators such as <Living as a Video Translator>, <Living as a Chinese Translator >, <How to Study for Chinese Translation>, <How to Live by Translator K

I also run The Line TV YouTube channel and share stories from various translators.

*Go to Translator's Study & SNS Marketing

*Go to the world of fashion translation

Regardless of the field of publication translation or video translation, I try to find inspiration by learning how translators continue to do their favorite work in their own way.

“Being a translator is an easy and fun way to earn money.”

I didn't open the class to say that. “Living as a video translator”I'm going to show you the joys and pains of as they are and give you realistic advice on how to live as a worker.
