Nice to meet you! I'm Mayumi Ninomiya who works as a carving creator.

I started carving when my child was in elementary school when I had a little time for myself. The comfort of being able to concentrate, and the sense of accomplishment when it was finished, made me fall in love with carving in no time.

In 2009, lessons began in earnest, and “Carving Room Fuwari” was launched.

In this class, you can check the work from the same perspective as the instructor, and you can look at the parts you care about over and over again.

Why don't you start with how to hold a knife, gradually increase what you can do, and enrich your dining table with your own carving work?

Let's start with how to carve various materials that can be used in everyday cooking

In this class, you can learn carving techniques to transform vegetables and fruits that you are usually familiar with into amazing beauty with just one extra effort. This content can be done even by a beginner who has a carving knife for the first time.

Once you've cleared what you've learned in the lesson, you'll be able to try making it with different materials and enjoy it in your own way. You can enjoy a variety of things depending on your ideas, such as how to incorporate it at the dining table or how to combine it with food.

I will also give you hints for various applications, so please enjoy living with carving!

The fun of carving connected to people, where you can deliver handmade things with all your heart

In this class, you can learn how to enjoy carved vegetables and fruits at the table, or how to use them in cooking, how to store them, and how to decorate them.

You can decorate your everyday dining table, and it will be a showcase of your skills at home parties. Being able to carve gives you confidence in yourself and gives surprise and excitement to those around you.

Why don't you add a little ingenuity to your everyday life and create a special moment?

People who have seen unusual carving ask questions, and communication may expand from there.

It can be said that learning carving in a course not only allows you to acquire skills, but you can also learn to connect with people.

Creator Interviews

Q. What kind of activities does the teacher do? Please tell us a little bit about your teacher!

I work as a [carving room fuwari] in Tokyo. We make custom-made watermelon carvings as event decorations and celebration gifts. In the classroom, we teach vegetable, fruit, and soap carving lessons.

Q. How did your teacher get into carving?

When I gave someone a small thank you, I started carving because I wanted to give them something handmade with all my heart.

Q. Why did you offer online classes with CLASS101?

While introducing carving on Instagram, I learned that there are so many people who are self-taught for reasons such as lack of classrooms. I wanted to do an online lesson for such people that they could learn over and over again anytime, anywhere, and CLASS101 called out to me.

Q. What points did you put the most effort into when planning the class? Who would you recommend this class to?

I recommend this class to people who want to enjoy the everyday dining table and those who want hospitality that makes everyone smile. I thought about something that is familiar to me, has content that can be done with a little effort rather than a difficult skill, and yet is so cute that I'm surprised how finished it is.

Q. What kind of experience do you want the students to have through this class?

Because I have carving, conversations with people I meet for the first time are exciting, and I have been able to connect with a lot of people. Carving connects people with a smile. I want you to experience not only the fun of carving, but also the [fun of carving that connects with people] beyond that.

Q. Please give a message to the students!

Living with carving is fun! Let's have some fun together!
