“I don't know what kind of art materials to start with...”

“Even if you get them all together, it would be a waste if you get bored quickly...”

“What is analog and digital in the first place...? ”

For various reasons, “I'd like to draw an illustration...”

Aren't you still feeling like that?

Recently, there has been an increase in the number of people who draw illustrations digitally.

At first, the creators themselves drew illustrations in analog, such as watercolors, etc., but after purchasing an iPad, they began drawing digitally.

The greatest characteristic of digital illustration is “being able to draw more and more without fear of failure.”

Even if you fail, you can return to your previous state right away, so there's no need to be nervous for fear of failure.

We will start with basic operations and aim to learn how to draw that can express realistic textures so that even those who have never drawn an illustration before can take on the challenge.

Furthermore, we will also introduce the creation of original message cards and poster goods using the illustrations we have drawn.

Let's have fun drawing illustrations!

*This video was created based on information as of 2022/12.

3 reasons why this class is so special

① You will be able to express the plump, thick appearance that is characteristic of succulents!

In this class, I will give a lecture on how to draw succulents with their unique, adorable appearance.

I think there are many people who are fascinated by succulents full of individuality and grow them at home.

Among them, I will draw succulents of the “genus Echeveria”, which are rosette-shaped and have a wide variety of leaf shapes and colors, as motifs.

I will draw more and more and aim for more realistic illustrations.

② You'll be able to draw with MediBang Paint!

The drawing software used in class is “MediBang Paint.”

MediBang Paint is free paint software. Although it's free, it has various features and allows you to draw high quality illustrations.

The software also has a time-lapse function. The time-lapse function is a function that allows you to create a making-of video by recording the work process of the work drawn on the canvas. If you post a making-of video along with the completed illustration on SNS, your followers may enjoy it even more.

③ You'll also be able to create original message cards and posters using the illustrations you've drawn!

We will also introduce the creation of message cards and posters so that you can enjoy the illustrations you draw even more.

If you use it as a poster, you can enjoy decorating it in your room.

Among Tannillers who grow succulents, I think there are many people who do “succulent exchange services” where they exchange succulents they grow themselves with succulents grown by their followers through SNS.

At that time, if you also send it with an original message card, you may be even more pleased.

I draw illustrations mainly with motifs of things that exist naturally, such as succulents, dried flowers, and nuts.

Original goods such as paper goods and miscellaneous goods are created using drawn illustrations, and are mainly exhibited at events, commissioned, and held solo exhibitions and workshops.

2010... artist name Chicu. Began working as an artist as (chiku).

After creating the work, we first start with consignment sales to physical stores that can handle handmade works.

2013... brand name yura2chicu. It is being developed as (wobble wobble).

Following physical stores, we expanded our range of products, such as receiving calls from Rakuten Ichiba shops and starting a handmade marketplace.

2015... Exhibited at a face-to-face event for the first time. Even now, we are exhibiting about 4 times a year, mainly at events in Aichi and Tokyo.

2018... Held her first solo exhibition. It continued to be held once or twice a year until 2020.

2019... A workshop to make small paper boxes using original paper was held.

2020... Sonny Angel participated in Japan Creator's Exhibition 2020. We have produced and sold 2 original Sonny Angels.

2021... Participated in the creation of recipes for two works using Dragonfly Pencil art materials in the “Dragonfly Pencil and Minne Special Project”. An interview article was also published.

In addition, we also accept orders from individuals, such as making business cards.

Workshops and solo exhibitions have been suspended since 2020 due to the effects of the novel coronavirus. Once the restrictions are removed, I would like to resume it again.

[Creator Interview]

Q. What led you to start drawing pictures of succulents?

A. Over 10 years ago, I found a small group plant at a flower shop.

The thick, unique forms, and vivid colors... I was fascinated by mysterious plants I had never seen before, and I was greeted with a bowl.

When I got home and looked it up, I first learned that these puffy plants are called “succulents.”

From there, they welcomed them one after another, and they continue to raise them even now.

As I continued my career as an artist, I began to think “I want to draw something,” and I decided to draw my favorite motifs.

When that is decided, “My favorite thing... succulents!” The motif was easily decided.

I started drawing succulents that I had grown myself at that time, and now I have the opportunity to draw succulents modeled after my followers on social media.

Q. What points did you put the most effort into planning your classes?

A. The point is that it is possible to express a wide range of expressions even with simple functions.

The drawing software “MediBang Paint” I'm using this time has various functions, but I made an original brush to use and thought that it could be completed with minimal operation using that single brush.

In this class, I will draw illustrations with succulent plant motifs, soI would like those who like succulents, those who grow succulents, and those who want many people to know the appeal of succulents they grow themselves to take this course.

I think some Tannillers, who grow succulents, have a “succulent exchange service” where they exchange succulents they grow themselves with succulents grown by their followers through SNS.

At that time, if you send it with an original message card with an illustration drawn by yourself, you may be even more pleased.

Q. Please give a message to the students!

A. Once you have drawn the succulents (Seven Lucky Gods) with the motifs you prepared in this class, the next step is to decide on a motif from the succulents you have grown yourself (or the succulent you want to draw) and take a picture.

Then, use that photo as a reference and draw an illustration using what you've learned in this class.

The Seven Lucky Gods that appeared this time are actually succulents I grow. She appeared as a model for this class.

It's very exciting to draw my own illustrations using “succulents I grow myself” as models.

Try replacing the self part of the sentence below with the student himself.

“I'm attached to it when I raise it myself, but I'm going to draw an illustration using that girl as a model.

As I drew, I noticed an appeal I hadn't noticed until now, saying, “Oh, this place has this kind of color.”

And I was able to create original posters, message cards, etc. on paper using those illustrations.

Maybe I'll send it with this message card on the next meat exchange flight.”

... what do you think? Aren't you excited just imagining it?

Through this class, you will rediscover the fun of drawing illustrations and the appeal of succulents

I would be happy if Taniller's circle would expand more than ever before.

Please post your illustrations in the comments section. I'm looking forward to seeing your illustrations!
