Why don't you decorate your everyday life by making embroidered earrings?

Nice to meet you. My name is Nobeyama (Nobeyama) from Rustic Fiber Work.

I usually draw inspiration from familiar decorative patterns, living creatures, plant shapes, etc., to create works.

I am moved by the clear shapes and colors, so I aim for a design that is exciting the moment I take a quick look. In particular, they often draw inspiration from decorative patterns from around the world, and many designs with an exotic atmosphere have been presented.

When it comes to embroidery, I think there are many cases where people have a relaxed and cute image, but I try to make rustic fiber work earrings that adults can use on a daily basis and that are slightly impressive.

This class was designed with that in mind. First, this is a curriculum where you can learn the basics of embroidery. My goal is not the end of this lesson, but to be able to create original works based on the techniques I've learned.

Learn how to assemble a design from the basics, and create a work full of originality

First, I will learn the basics thoroughly, and I will teach you the basics of how to use impressive colors and how to assemble designs. In addition to embroidery techniques and designs, I will also tell you how to tailor embroidery motifs into earrings.

I have my own tips, so you can watch everything in detail in the video.

Actually, what inspired me to make earrings was because I'm allergic to metals and I don't like the weight of earrings.

I would be happy if you could use this lesson as a trigger to wear earrings embroidered with your own original design.

Use a variety of embroidery techniques and memorable colors to create your own original design

Even if you say “embroidery” in a nutshell, there are various techniques. Let's master the basic techniques of such embroidery and understand the characteristics.

Instead of using a lot of difficult techniques, you can perform a variety of expressions even with a simple combination of techniques.

It's also a good idea to find a technique you like and master it.

I feel that wearing accessories leads to my confidence. Just like choosing a special accessory for a special day, make the perfect accessory for who you are now with your own hands. And I think wearing it will also lead to a special sense of confidence. I want everyone to experience such an experience. I hope I can help you with that. By all means, let's make an accessory that will be your best friend.

In the work of creating and delivering works, there are many cases where people are interested in the production process rather than just the actual work. [Creator Interview]

Q. How did your teacher get started as an embroidery artist?

I liked to create works of a scale that exceeded my height, but it started when I felt like I would look more closely at my hands.

I used to work on big works because I thought that the power of a work would be proportional to its size.

I thought that might not be the essence of manufacturing, so I came across embroidery while searching for a new expression of myself. One of the reasons was that the coronavirus spread during the 2020 solo exhibition, and the number of visitors to the gallery dropped drastically, so I switched to online presentations only. My interest in embroidery is also greatly influenced by my mother, who is good at sewing and sewing machines.

Q. Why did you offer online classes with CLASS101?

Working as an artist is sometimes lonely. We do everything from design design to production and sales by one person.

I heard that the CLASS101 lesson is a lesson made with everyone, and I was interested in making things that are not just my own.

I was moved by the sheer fun of what kind of lessons they would be creating with everyone.

Also, when I told the staff who spoke to me at the beginning, “I want to make and deliver a CLASS101 original work,” they readily agreed and said, “Let's make it together.” I'm sure it will be a work or lesson that I wasn't born on my own. I'm really looking forward to that.

Q. What points did you put the most effort into when planning the class? Who would you recommend this class to?

This is a lesson where you can assemble your own CLASS101 original work and your own design.

At the end of the day, the content is such that you can create an original work within the lesson. Of course, there are samples for those that difficult, so you can make them according to the sample.

In the first lesson, you will be asked to challenge the basics of embroidery and “getting used to the repetitive work of repetitive repetition,” which is important in creating embroidery works. I will also introduce tips for cutting corners when you feel that it is difficult, so I would be happy if you could take on the challenge without being nervous.

Whether you are new to embroidery or not, I hope it will be a point of contact for everyone who is interested in embroidery.

Q. What kind of experience do you want the students to have through this class?

I want people to have the feeling of “try and fail.”

I think there are some processes that you may struggle with at first, but if you can't try it, you can start over, and there's no problem. This time, I'll give you my own tips and ways to proceed, so let's work together first. And one day you'll always find methods, materials, and tools that suit you. Beginners will surely get used to it as they progress little by little, so please proceed at your own pace.

Q. Please give a message to the students!

I can't see your work in person, but I look forward to your advice, exchanges, and submissions in the comments! I would be very happy if I could create one lesson/work, including all of your works.
